WTH Frontier - Permanent online only works when your servers do!!!!

I left a station in my pimped out viper, flew to the nearest Nav Beacon, and battled some pirates, I then found a nice juicy wanted ship with a very large bounty, attacked it, but in the middle of the battle, when their shields were down and their hull was at 29%, I lost connection to the server, I retried 3 times to connect and just a message saying if it persists, contact support.

Finally got back in and now I am in the middle of nowhere, all the ships have gone, my shields were down, hull is damaged and my canopy is smashed and my amassed bounty credits have all gone.

I know the issues people have raised about the game needed to be permanently online, but when server errors affect the game play, that game then becomes unplayable.

It's not my connection either, as I play the game on my games PC and use another PC for online browsing, so checked the connection straight away and the 150MB fibre line is connected and working perfectly

Frontier, you made a decision to make the game permanently online, so fix the servers so we can play. If these errors persist and I am not the only one complaining, the game will die and there will be a lot more requests for money back for an unplayable game

I HATE to be the one to say it but WE TOLD YOU SO! All of us that asked for refunds because of the offline mode switcheroo fortold this many weeks ago :) We were hounded from the forums, declared trolls, banned by mods.........but guess what? WE WERE SPOT ON! No sympathy here, blame the fanbois

Why are you still here? I'm not trying to be snarky. I'm legitimately curious.

I'm still ok with it. Its a game, try dusting the Doritos dust off your chest and relax a bit. I support it, just for keeping pirating of the game down if nothing else. Gamers have themselves to blame on this sort of thing.

Well this are normal inconvenciences of an online game

raise a ticket and explain calmly, they might be able to restore your bounty credits

I am ok with the online only, seeing how the living galaxy works even for SOLO players.

Now, I am just gonna walk the dog and hopefully when I am back it will be working, otherwise I'll watch tv or play something else

Oh, and happy new year

He's just a troll, who unfortunately has nothing better to do with his life other than come to the forums and be a nuisance.
Instead of letting everyone else try to enjoy the game or post threads on the forum, he'll always be here calling all the players who enjoy the game "fanbois" (Fan Boys, I believe is the correct English term)

OT: Unfortunately there will be server hiccups, as with any game. But they are few and far between. I've rarely experienced disconnects since launch to be honest, and I'm somewhat suprised.
Do know that they use Amazon services for their servers.

There's another thread where people are losing parts they had bought prior to being disconnected but without being reimbursed. Others have had the type of cargo they're carrying changed to something entirely different, and worth significantly less. I don't know that this kind of thing qualifies as a "normal inconvenience".

I'm STILL awaiting a refund (applied for on 20th Nov) and will be here till refunded....You think they can sort this game out? They cant even process refunds correctly lol

I heard the issues tonight are because one of the devs watched "the interview" and enjoyed it, raising the wrath of the glorious leader.

But seriously, its the same if PSN or Xbox live goes down isn't it? Online play is vital to stop cheating, and for the future simulation work and features Frontier wish to realise.

Would have been nice to have an stand alone/offline version but just don't think it will happen.
.
Servers are as steady as a rock for me, no issues at all except during updates or server maintenance.
.
Maybe the problem is somewhere in between, I used to play a game on a US server from the UK at my routing went through at least two other points other than the my router and the game, not including my ISP.

Not sure why you would deserve a refund. You got what you paid for, you bought a game, played a game, don't like it? Well...... not FD's problem.
I would be with you if there was any real legal concerns here.

My thoughts exactly! Obviously doesn't get on with the game and looking for excuses in order to get a refund. Followed all the forum posts, picked up on the "issue" of no offline version and joined in

I backed this game with Kickstarter. I know the difference between aspirations (What ED said they wanted) and promises (And ED did not promise anything)

Legally they have sold you a game that requires a connection, they are unable to maintain that connection to a satisfactory level, which means the product they have sold is not fit for purpose, so that is FD's problem.
They made a decision to make it an online only game, which the majority of people are fine with, but they now have to support and maintain the service which they sold, something which they are not doing at present, hence the number of people complaining on this forum about connection issues, cargo going missing, credits disappearing and missions being failed, due to their server issues. I have ticketed and logged out, as it is unplayable at present and the issues have spoilt the game.

They need to resolve the server issues ASAP and then explain what is going on, as the decision to be permanently online is mute, if they can't keep the servers working (It's not Amazon's fault either, I use them for work, but FD chose the host and it is up to them to ensure they are capable of delivering the service they have sold.) Anyways, end of rant, going to bed peed off with the progress I have lost today

Stop cheating? If I so choose to cheat in my offline game mode (that should not be linked to my online game mode for gods sakes), than that would be my choice. No need to stop it, I paid the money, I'll either cheat or not (in an offline game).

Online totally agree. That is why Offline and Online should be separate if there was a true offline mode... but there isn't.
