wth is "Warning, Hull Breach Attack" at 1600+ armor w. resistances - in one second, you're dead?

Ok, so you just lost shields, but you got pretty much all your hull (with grade 5 HD mod + multiple Hull reinforcements and 1 module reinforcement) left, which should give you enough time to disengage.

Then Your board computer says "Warning, Hull Breach Attack"

And you go from 98% Hull to zero Hull in one second after this "warning"

Does that smell like bull to anyone? I'm talking PvE here...

I was fighting an ASP in my Corvette and had two other enemy on me, not bigger than an FGS or FAS.
Note, I was not wanted, no notoriety, I shouldn't have had any stupendously overpowered C&P against me...

If NPCs have such a wonderful miracle attack - where can I buy or engineer that?

Hmm. That does sound odd. But did your Corvette actually have much hull? Or were you shield-tanking with only a default hull and no mods?

Were these the special ATC NPC's?

I've seen this message in High Intensity Combat Zones recently.

I generally head for the hills as soon as my shields drop in my chieftain so haven't run into the 'seconds to dead' bit yet. I have seen the hull breach attack message though.

It was a hull breach attack that did 98% of your hull hitpoints in damage, thus rendering you dead. Attacks that fit within this category include, but are not limited to: Being struck by multiple hull breaching attacks at once; power plant critical hit; life support failure; life support module no longer aboard ship; being rammed; NPC multicannon projectiles being replaced by huge PAC shell; NPC multicannon projectiles being replaced by huge Asp; Multiple Imperial Cutter sandwich; C&P 3.0.

Looks like a penetrator rail gun to the power plant... Fill a bug report to FD. No NPC (or player) should have this. Maybe a miscalculation, like the ones in 2.1.

Hehe just noticed, that I should mention the gear level and edited the OP, but will elaborate here:

Corvette is 100% A-rated, aside from Life Support. I was shield tanking with 4HD SBs and 3 Resistances SBs and one Point Defense.

But I also had 3 Hull Reinforcements, 1 module reinforcement and my Light Weight Alloy had G5 Heavy Duty mod on it.

Armor was 1659, Rating 70.

Under normal circumstances, I could finish a fight without shields up. I've done that before, against larger ships - as long as I had brought their hull a good chunk lower than mine, if it was a Corvette or Conda I was fighting, I'd just finish them off and then leave... Its PvE, after all...

The chieftain works much better as hull tanker. I have C5 shields and reinforced hulls with HRPs and MRPs and works a treat.

So, that sounds like a bug, killing over 1600 armor with resistances in a single shot?

Also, I was not wanted, so I probably shouldn't have some stupendously over-powered C&P gear against me during normal game play?

Absolutey 100% not supposed to happen yeah. A question though - what rank was that Asp? Was it close to you? I wonder if two super penetrator modded short range blaster railguns could have crit your powerplant? At point blank range that's potentially 2x170% damage slugs ripping through your ship. If you had no module reinforcement on your PP or via MRPs then this *might* explain what happened. This is why we NEED a "death report" on the rebuy screen explaining what event(s) exploded our ships.

I had similar from an NPC anaconda. I was on a courier mission and was interdicted by said anaconda.

I was in a cobra mk3 with std hull and std C4 bi weave with no boosters.

I didn't think it was too OP at the time.

I've had this message before in a CZ. My shields were still functioning, so I can only assume that it's an engineered reverb mine attack that elicits this response. Didn't lose my ship though, that sounds wrong.

That's as bit different - a Cobra never has over 1600 armor, so an Anaconda could shred a cobra hull pretty quickly.

You wanted dangerous - you got dangerous.

Just happened to me as well in my new anaconda.
Was having very good time in a High REZ killing wanted stuff with my fighter crew NPC
received from the crew the message "multiple hostiles"
realized I suddenly was wanted, donno why
hull went down very fast
then died

Your ship shouldn't be one shot from 98% hull... but I've got to ask (just out of curiosity) how much integrity does your power plant have and what jump range do you have?
