X-52 Problems

I just got an X-52... none of the Pros were in stock and I wanted a good stick when my new rig got to my house, (more on that later :) )

However, I was using a Cyborg (logitech equipment) and I have a Logitech Driving Wheel on my current computer as well.

When I install the software... I'm getting jerked around.

The initial setup said 'no controllers seen' and I tried everything I could. Finally, I just fired up Elite, and everything worked great for a second... Elite recognized it, gave me the Presets, I was flying better than I ever had (for about 30 seconds,) then everything went haywire.

My stick's lights flickered off, then my Cobra started acting like I was on F/A off. The lights on my x-52's stick stayed off until I quit Elite, unplugged the USB, then plugged it back in.

Before this, I tried uninstalling all Logitech stuff I had, then re-installing the software from their website.

There's two things I see that are problems here. (1) I had two different controllers installed for a long time, and I haven't removed everything. Thus creating a problem. (2) The software downloads on Saitek's site only give me the option for a X-52 PRO... I only have the stock version.

What do you guys think is going on? Can anyone help?

Does joystick have 3 plugs one USB and two plug in both stick and le? That would be one area to look. Do you have any other flight stick plug in?

Im not sure what the first part means. :)

I have the cord going from my throttle to the stick, and the USB going from the throttle to my computer.

No other sticks plugged in.

Plus, my cd drive doesn't open anymore, so I'm having to download the software from Saitek's website.

I only have the Stock X52, and the only option to download is for X52-PRO.

That couldn't be a problem though, right?

I don't have any usb 3 ports on my pc but others have had issues with them, so if you have USB 3 then try to avoid using them for the x52.

The standard X-52 software is available, its just semi-hidden away for some reason.

Go on to the Saitek site again and click on "Joysticks" from the drop down menu. The X52 software is the 2nd bottom of the drop down list.

Am no expert but couple of questions, is your X52 plugged into USB2 or 3? if three change to USB2 as there were problems when others tried USB3

I have X52Pro and downloaded the software straight from the saiteks site and mines worked from day one, am surprised there's no standard X52 download from there though for yours...wait....

ah just checked on saitek site, there is a download for yours! click on joysticks first then choose X52 software from download, try that see if that helps :)

lol ninja by Erimus, good pic :)

To get the x52 drivers don't select flightstick in the drop down menus on their site. Select joystick and the base X52 is listed with the correct drivers.

X52 doesn't work properly on USB3 ports. Must be USB 2.

Heh, beat me to it on the drivers link :)

Alright! I haven't downloaded the new software yet, but it seems like Erimus and Gunman were right, you have to select joystick before the first drop down or the stock X52 isn't there!

Updates imminent.

It's really great that I'm dealing with this now. I have a beautiful new Rig coming on Monday.

I'm happy that I'll know how to plug a damn controller into it once it gets here!

I have the same stick and had a few issues with it too once I started assigning my own keys and buttons and making macros via the program software.

My stick went haywire at times - I tried uninstalling the software, reinstalling it etc. Tried USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 etc.

It turned out it was something as silly has having macro names more than 16 characters long! x52 don't like that lol :S

So just a heads up if you make macros for it

nope.. this isn't working.

Before I tried all of this, I had a 'logitech profiler' in my taskbar. I uninstalled everything with 'logitech' on it, and now when I install this software, I don't see that anymore.

Well, screw it.

I just hope it's not a x52 issue. I'm pretty sure it's a problem with me having too many logitech product's drivers in this thing, and now it just refuses to play ball.

Whatever, I guess I'll just wait for my rig to get here and try again. I'll be really bummed if it doesn't work then! This was kind of like a 'burn in' for the stick!

Nope, no problem with logitech drivers. I have the 'Driving Force GT' wheel and the logitech driver suit installed as well as the X52 drivers including the profile editor. The wheel is not plugged in when playing elite, but the drivers work well together.

Probably a fresh install on the new computer will fix it.

This is what I got from Madcatz support for my X52 Pro (so I imagine similar procedure to std just using the std drivers) last July to completely clear out and re-install;

Your ticket number is XXXXXXX.

Please make sure you follow the steps below in the order they are submitted.

First, kindly unplug all Saitek peripherals from your machine.

Go to Control Panel and run the Programs and Features icon. Remove all Saitek and ST Programming Software entries in the list of programs and then go to the C:\Program Files (and/or x86) directory and delete the Saitek folder.

Restart your computer and the files will all be uninstalled.

Now browse to your C:\Windows\Inf folder (If you can't see an Inf folder then click Organize > Folder and search options near the top-left corner of the window, go to the View tab and in there check the Show hidden files, folders and drives option, then click OK - you should now be able to open the Inf folder in the Windows directory).

Look for the OEM0.inf file. Find the highest numbered OEMXX.inf file and double click on it - a Wordpad screen will open up with information in it. You're looking for any lines that refer to Saitek (usually at the top of the window). If you don't see any such info close that window and open the next OEMXX.inf file - so if you started on, say, OEM30.inf then you'd now open OEM29.inf.

If you find any that refer to Saitek then close the window and delete that OEMXX.inf file along with its accompanying OEMXX.pnf file. Go through all of them until you have deleted any files that mention Saitek.

Now, please do a ‘search’ for files in Windows using the following search string: sai*.*

Once it's finished finding any files delete them - files only though, don't delete any folders, and only Saitek files. All Saitek files have sai at the start and are usually followed by a capitalised word (like SaiMini.sys for example).

Go to the Program Files directory on your PC and delete the InstallShield Installation Information folder (if it exists).

Go to the C:\Windows\Temp folder, as well as the C:\Users\<your_user>\AppData\Local\Temp folder and delete everything in there.

Click Start>Run and type regedit and click Ok. Alternatively, Windows key + R will open the Run dialog.

Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER and remove any of the following entries if present:

- Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Saitek Gaming Extensions

Then, please use the link below to download the 3.5 version of the .NET framework

www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx

If you have already installed version 4.0, the two of them will not conflict with each other, but the ST software needs the 3.5 version to function properly.

After installing it, please use the Saitek official website to download the driver and the necessary version of the ST software.

Please save the files onto your hard drive and then run them from your Downloads directory, as running them directly from the site might cause some issues.

Begin the driver installation first, with the product unplugged (in this case, the USB dongle), as the installation guide will instruct

you to plug in the product at the necessary moment.

After the driver installation was finished, please install the ST software, following the procedure below:

Go to the Downloads Directory > Right click on the saved file > Run as.... > Administrator, then follow the instructions guide.

Should you require further assistance from our team, do not hesitate to contact us again and we will follow up accordingly.

On the other hand it might be easiest to wait for your new machine....

You got me going, ianw.

The whole thing.. I think.. was installing drivers first with your device unplugged.. plugging it in, then running the software as admin.

Thanks a lot. You rule!

Well...

It happened again.

You know what I think? I think it's this crappola SST software.

I betcha if I just install the drivers, and leave it at that, it will work fine.
