X-55 Rhino quesrion

Hello everyone i got a x-55 as a gift from my uncle it is awesome just was wondering if there is a way to use the keyboard and mouse preset as a secondary to the x-55 preset cuz each control has ability to use 2 keys for the same thing reason i ask is i run voice attack and dont want to have to reprogram my 100+ commands any help will be welcomed

Can't say I've tried the combination of HOTAS and keyboard. I did use VA in a relatively unsophisticated way before I got my X55 and it rocked, but I've found since getting the HOTAS that there is no reason I have found to need to use the keyboard for anything other than the galaxy map, which is quite rare. What sort of commands are you running through VA? Must be quite complex? I'd love to explore VA more to demonstrate its power.

i use it for firing thrusters and toggling flight assist on and off for turns on top of hardpoints targeting anything the takes a key press lol

The Rhino can handle all this easily. There's a bunch of good pre-defined bindings floating around on these forums, and I believe there's a custom bind built into the game, although I use my own. Typically you'll see FA off bound to the pinky trigger on the stick, and thrusters use one of the thumb HATs on the throttle. It's a very good way of flying, IMHO. If that's all you're doing with VA, I think you'll find either VA or the HOTAS are redundant.

I certainly had to experiment for a bit to get everything 'just so'. I suggest you start with someone else's binding as a template, or the in-build one, and play around in a relatively safe system until you've got things the way you like them. You'll never look back. Happy flying!

one thing im gratefull for is that mine doesnt stick like some peoples say actually going to go to a stiffer spring read a lot of people say it sticks in center

I didn't have that problem, but yeah, some people definitely have. I actually went with the lightest spring because I found that the desk surface I was using the stick on was too slippery for the rubber mats to actually keep the stick in one place ;)

Another thing - apply a little bit of a dead zone to the stick x y z axes. I've noticed that otherwise, even when the stick's centred, you'll get a bit of drift.

Also I found setting the throttle tension to the lowest level helps with fine control of speed, and also allows you to operate the throttle with your pinky whilst reaching down to the toggle switches to the right hand side.

Having said all that, I am a terribly flyer - I'm just much better than I used to be with mouse and keys ;)

Congratulations on getting a Rhino, I got one today as well, they're awesome. Many of the early production lines had issues, but the current versions seem to be very solid. I am pretty sure you will find VA redundant though, the sheer number of switches on the Rhino is enough to bind everything in the game, considering the fact that every switch is 2 bindings effectively.
