Well, I just installed X-Beyond the Frontier.

I remember it being similar to Elite and at the time (1998) hoping it would be the next Elite.

Just played it for a few hours. Nice. I forgot how good it was. Although you can't save unless you
earn enough credits to buy insurance...only THEN can you save


Still.....having fun playing it and FE2 while we wait for ED. :)

Ah yes, XBTF ... so many good memories ...
I liked the start of the game with the Teladi Captain ... the conversation was entertaining.

Looking back on that game now, it seems so limiting, but at the time it was great. The graphics in the sector were jaw dropping (we are talking 1999 remember).

If you want any help Styggron, feel free to ask.

Heh - I found that CD the other day - even found some game saves - the last one being at 0107 30/01/2000..

I've been playing that game on and off for years. I thought the beginning of it was really good and well done for it's time. It was also one of the first PC games I ever bought. Played a bit of X2 as well and really like the music in both the games. Has a very "spacy" feel to it. :cool:

Well, strangely I ran that game with same hopes around it's release. Unfortunately it was nothing like Elite or Frontier: Elite 2, at least not for me :( FE2 however despite it's glitches is pure, unfiltered Newtonian jousting fun :D
