What is this madness?

I go away for a few months expecting some major improvements in the EXISTING mechanics of the PC and Mac game only to find out that FD want to push a section out for the Xbox one crowd now? Ye gods.

Talk about fragmenting your resources, adding to server and resource management and all the while not improving the fundamental quality of the game.

Somewhat suicidal that. I paid more money for this game than I ever had done before. But it's coming off my computer. It just annoys me now.

Not falling for the Braben trap again. Like so many times over the last 20 years I've learnt the habit of saying to myself "yeah right", and tuning out.

you do understand how easy the xbox port is and cost effective and how much money fdev can make of it which will be put INTO THE GAME?

Never seen a problem with it myself as long as the game doesn't get locked to 30fps etc which it won't. Not too overjoyed at timed exclusive content but I suppose it is the MS way and was innevitable.
More players is good for the game, this console v PC thing is only a 'thing' when games like batman have terrible ports to PC

I have my own popcorn maker :)

Most AAA games go to most popular platforms near the same time. Just good business sense. Cash is king in business.

In also really really angry. In fact im going to uninstall ED too. And then Windows. And then throw my PC into the bath. And then stand in the garden in the middle of the night screaming until all the neighbors dogs are going mental. All because Elite is on the XBox now. Raaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrr!

Relax :)

There's no sub so they have to do something to bring in the monies. I think having it on xbox is a good idea, there really isn't anything else like it on the console quite yet. Still though I hope they start fleshing out the store with bobbleheads, cockpit decorations, etc., to help with revenues. I think there is a lot of pent up demand for it.

Can't say i blame him, at least not too much. True... he's exaggerating for sure. But PC Gamers had their fair share of rubbish ports (hello "Batman: Arkham Night", and thats just one example). And i can still remember some announcments like "PC Version won't get a graphics update, that would make the console version look bad". So, while i in general agree with the statement "more money is good for the game", i also keep a very close eye if said console addition doesn't have any negative side effects on the PC version. I don't expect it, but who knows.

At the risk of fueling yet another thread on the subject that has been discussed in many, many threads this week.

Batman was a PC port of a console game. Ported by a third party that took the PS4 version and tried to get it to work on the PC.

ED was released on the PC at the end of last year with full 4k support, VR support and more peripheral support and key binding support that most PC only games. ED already supports all kinds of PC architecture and I've not seen reports of it not working well with "mechanical hard drives".

These are two very different situations.

Thats not what i meant. You are right of course, as of now i also don't see any impact on the PC Version so far and it is indeed another situation (port from / to). I also don't have any problems that it was ported to the X-Bone, hence my comment "i agree, moar money is good". All wanted to say was, thanks to some developers that released rubbish ports to the PC (there are some remarkable good exceptions as well, besides the usual "okay" port), i can understand that some people react a bit allergic when it comes to this very topic.
