Newcomer / Intro "X" in system map

By this time in my ED "career" I ought to know this. But I don't... ahem.

Scannd the whole system, entered the sysmap and see this:

I've seen it before but never really wondered. What does the "X" represent? The gas giant doesn't orbit a star? There's "something" there but you can't scan it?

It’s the point they’re orbiting, which is the barycentre of two or more stars.
