X marks the spot?

Okay, what does an X mean on the system map? Unexplored system, has several suns in it, then an X with two planets orbiting it. What's the X mean?

Off the top of my head, and with no screen shot to look at :p I'd say that X does indeed mark the spot. The spot in this case being the exact location of the planets in question. They tend to move them for easy of viewing, I think.

It is gravity zone between 2 (or more) stars around which planets or other objects orbit. 2 stars close enough together will in this way act as a single gravity well around which the planets orbit. Hope that made sense, it's getting late :)

It means the planets are orbiting more than one star and going round the centre of mass of the system rather than orbiting just one of the stars. It can also be called the barycentre.

You can get ternary systems where the planets are orbiting the barycentre of all three. I've never seen a system where there are planets orbiting the barycentre of more than three but there's no reason why such a system shouldn't exist.
