My reasoning here does depend on it actually getting the proposed military slot in the live game.

The X-Wing fighter from Star Wars was a small, highly maneuverable fighter. In this regard the Eagle is identical. It also had the capacity to move a single Rebel Alliance pilot around the galaxy, with a minimum amount of cargo. To emulate this, my proposed build has two tonnes cargo capacity.

I have also included an SRV hangar, as that is the closest we can get to interacting with planets whilst we can't hop out of our ship on foot.

No fuel scoop. We'll be relying on stations to get fuel. Not a problem, just demands some attention be paid to the map. That's actually a plus for me. Fuel scooping is EZ-Mode in my opinion. Scoops aren't necessary in the bubble.

FSD interdictor to give the craft full interception qualities. Am open to replacing it for a scoop though.

What do you think?

To my understanding, while still a small ship, the X Wing was on the larger side for those fighters, and it wasn't especially maneuverable either. If I had to categorize, I'd say the X Wing was a Viper Mk IV and the Eagle was more A Wing.

Oh okay. I was hoping someone who knows his Star Wars would post here.

Oh, burn. :)

I'm going off knowledge from the old-school X-Wing games, as well as other sources like Wookiepedia and videos like the following:

Basic theme seems to be X-Wing is a bit bigger, has better firepower, and is more durable, while the A-Wing is faster, and more agile, but noticeably weaker shields and armor. Put a performance-enhanced thruster in the Eagle, and it seems to fit the bill. :)

Not trash-talking your Eagle build there, I like it (although I'd A-rate the engines, but I assume that was just an oversight, because I know you know your stuff), I was just talking Star Wars tech, no offense intended.

Oh hello... Yeah you right. How did those C-rated engines get there? Switched to A-rate. No point going for performance thrusters here. The armour keeps it overweight for those. I think... Let me check the statistics.

Eagle doesn't really have the power to run performance thrusters. Not with these weapons anyway. Weight also means that the A-rates are a more agile fighter.

Yeah, I did the same on my Eagle and Viper III. Performance enhanced speed is nice, but you end up giving up too much for it, I think.
