X45 Throttle with Thrustmaster T1600

Commanders,

Does anyone know if I can use the X45 Throttle but with a Thrustmaster T1600 joystick as I think the (x45) stick is a bit too stiff for combat?

I think so. I use the throttle of a T. Fligh Hotas X steup (stick is connected but remains untouched) together with a T16000M stick. As long as you bind the stick in the analog entry it is very responsive with no dead-zone whatsoever.

I have to say though the T16000M is a pretty stiff stick too. And no means to adjust the stiffness.

I will have to do some testing today as the control panel changed in Beta 3.9. All bindings are analogue now. But there are less binding settings. In Beta 3.05 you could have your keyboard bindings next to two controller bindings. You can still set up two controllers but you will have to sacrifice some of your keyboard bindings to do so. I will have to test this tonight.

Could not test it completely because of Frontier servers shutting down for yet another update. But so much is clear, you can still use two joysticks or a Hotas and a separate joystick. Both throttle and separate joystick will work together. You wil have to bind one of the joysticks to the main flight direction settings, the other joystick will have 50% dead-zone unfortunately. This does not apply to your throttle as long is this one is assigned as the primary throttle. In your case you can use the X45 throttle together with any other joystick you would like. Which one to choose is up to you. The T16000M has magnetic sensors and hence produces some resistance although this does not make the stick overly stiff, after one hour of playtime my wrist gets tired. Which does not happen with the joystick that came with the T. Flight Hotas X, but that one is not as presecise as the T16000M. For now I keep both, for normal trading missions I use the T. Flight Hotas X and for combat missions I use the T16000M. Hope this helps you. If you have any questions let me know.

Ihad the same fears with my X45, seems its an ongoing problem noisy stiff joy stick, i went on Google and theres a fix, Its the Spring, its to powerful, tip.. get 2 thin cable ties, pair of pliers cable tie 2 together, worked for me, 3 if you want really light stick.

Skywatcher, thanks for that my Friend, that's good News, I think I might go for the Hotas X and the T1600M also and maybe try out DODGER LONGS Idea with the cable ties.

Thanks Guys :)

Normally yes, the game is fine accepting input from multiple device id, however, 3.9 introduced a bug with multiple ID, leaving some devices not being detected by the game engine.

At present the game wont recognise my custom rudder pedals with any of the sticks I tried. I am sure the bug will be fixed in due course as it has affected a large number of users; so if it does not work atm, don't despair, it should work just fine once they sort it. However, as already pointed out, you can mod the x45 spring to take out some of the tension, either use cable ties or you can do as I did, and actually cut some of the spring out, (don't get over zealous, you do not have to remove much).

The cable ties work well, as does Pledge furniture polish (or any silicon based polish).
Sadly, my X-45 is reaching the end of the road. The X axis pot is so noise that I can't get it to pass the in-game control tests anymore!
I've got a new stick in the post (allegedly!)

Im going to give both these ideas a go :) it may even save me some money yay :)

If you can adjust the tension on the spring in your X45 I would. The T. Flight Hotas X and the T16000M are both budget controllers. I expect your X45 to be much better.

Yep my thoughts exactly, my Wife has gone out shopping so she is going to pick me up some cable ties, I have already done the Graphite pencil solution.

I hope it works because as you say they were not cheap when I got them and they have not had that much use so it would be great if I can breath more life in to them with ED :)
