Hardware & Technical x52 pro - Clutch ! stopped working

Still not had a chance to play full release as I was working on release day and then flew to the states with my rig the day after. Only just had a chance to set everything up and jumped in the game and my clutch button (the ! on the throttle) as stopped working.

All my profiles are the same as well as the rig but nothing I do will allow that button to work. I've checked the usual control panel box on and off and wiped my profile but it won't even show up when I press it in the control panel. Anyone have any ideas or do you think my throttle broke in transit?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In the x52 control panel, (windows icon in bottom right), under the MFD tab, clear the check box 'enable clutch mode'.

That's the first thing I did and have tried to do constantly. It won't read it. I've reinstalled all the software from scratch a couple of times and still no dice.

Are you connected directly to a computer usb port? If so, install a powered usb hub (make sure it has a separate power supply, I nearly purchased a port powered hub, no good). There have been many documented issues of this HOTAS not having its switches etc read correctly if only powered from the computers port, not enough current i guess.

Good luck, its worth fixing

I have to confess I don't have any experience with that controller, but I do have some with buttons such as that, not working.

The reasons are almost always the button.

There are essentially two different types, the touch sensitive and the mechanical. The touch sensitive are by far the most common, most computer keyboards use something similar. The key is plastic and presses down onto a membrane which makes contact with a silver plated contact.

The problem is, the seal around the membrane isn't as sound as it once was. with the changing airpressures, some moisture has gotten onto the membrane or silver contact. This happens when one of these buttons is put into a dramatically different environment, such as an airplane. I have had to deal with numerous examples from equipment flown to and from Africa.

The only effective way to deal with this is to put it into a dry, warm environment, such as an airing cupboard. It may take several days.

Do not, under any circumstances attempt to apply artificial heat. it has to be environmental. Also, do not attempt to use a spray cleaner of any kind. Even if it says it is suitable for a keyboard, it isn't. A cleaner will cause abrasions on the mechanism resulting in sticking.

If I may, can I suggest, next time, you buy a controller over in the states?

It's a pita, it's worked perfectly for months and then I take it to the states with me and suddenly that button craps out. I've opened it up and everything looks fine in side, nothing wrong with the key it's self. Might have just died on me (the mouse was broken since day one).

It's a good controller but the quality control is a pita. I can't find a ch pro throttle on amazon here in the states (I can't use my card on any other usa site) so it looks like I'll have to suck it up til I get back in the uk. Mad Catz seemed to have dropped the ball, I wish I had bought my tflightx over instead.

Thanks for all your replies.

It's a shame, but you will no doubt, pick up when you return.

In the mean time, have fun over there and see you soon!

try closing the software and then opening the properties panel through your control panel/ devices and printers open the game ( keep the properties window open) apply your settings and test
