x52 pro driver nightmare issues

I was not sure where to post this (not Saitek forums since they decided they didn't need them anymore), but with the number using the x52 here with the OC this is my only hope. I have good google foo and I've found a good number with the same problem but no solutions.

I have a x52 pro I just ordered to complete that oculus experience. Got it set up, the drivers seemed to take a LONG time to install, the software hung on completeing installation but when I tested it, it was fine. I tried to launch elite and it froze (elite did) and I couldn't even exit the task. These drivers were like a virus. Skype wouldn't connect. Firefox would hang. (Oddly chrome was fine). My computer wouldn't even shut down properly. If the joystick was plugged in it wouldn't boot up. The first time that gave me a minor heart attack.

I did my google foo. I looked all over. A lot said it had to be in a USB 2.0 port. Ok so I looked and I didn't have any 2.0 ports, I never bothered on this system, BUT I do have 2.0 slots on the motherboard and I set up a hub directly off the mother board. I tested it, it worked fine. I plugged in the x52, same damn issues. As a side note I used the drivers from the website, NOT from the disk so they were the latest. About the only posts I could find that directly had this issue were all unanswered (Star citizen people have the same issue) and it seems to be directly a win7 64 bit issue.

I uninstall the software, ok good.
I uninstall the drivers, ok it hangs.

I try to reinstall the drivers, it takes forever, and then I get a BSOD. Semi ironically while writing this post the first time.

SOOO I've had it, I unplug the joystick, plug back in my T-flight and blow some stuff up in elite. How the hell does a joystick driver stop skype and modzilla from connecting?! I was angry, got 300k in bounties :)

Now I'm good with hardware, but not great with software. The problem I have is that the drivers don't show up to uninstall without the x52 being plugged in, which causes system voodoo. I read you can turn off "hidden" mode in the device manager but that didn't have them show up. If someone knows how to remove them directly I'd be most appreciative. I was reading another forum for a game where this sort of thing was happening and people said the older drivers didn't cause the crashing they were having, so I found those in one of those "driver archive" sites and will give it one more go, but first I need to exorcise this demon in my system.

Help me, you are my only hope.

Sorry I can't help but thought I'd share my experience with the x55... Works fine on my laptop and gaming rig 1, but on gaming rig 2 if they are plugged in when I boot up windows won't load! If they are unplugged it loads fine.

Hi,

I also had a mare with getting the drivers working as you are having.

This thread helped clean the drivers off my system.
Tried multiple versions of USB 2 ports and driver versions and finally managed to get it all going, mainly by trial and error.

Im currently running (on Win 7):

Driver: 7.0.34.109
Software: 7.0.27.13

I also had issues getting drivers to load, sticks recognised and also getting the programming tool working.
Persistence paid off, its now fully functional and once working a cracking peice of kit. Im loving the programming tool for getting the most out of the stick (get into using band modes on unused analog stuff for extra digital buttonage)

I found that thread too, the problem I'm having is I can't uninstall the drivers.

Edit: So for fun I let the uninstall hang happen and go eat breakfast. Came back, it BSODed.

Well my google foo prevailed and I figured out I needed to change an environment variable to SEE the hidden files, just ASKING to see them wasn't enough. So I did that and I deleted the 10 or so hidden saitek pro drivers. And I started over after deleting the registry stuff....

And had the same problems all over again.

Edit: Ok narrowed it down, its a win7 + asus z87 mobo issue. Oddly it works fine in win8, but... ugh win 8.

"Fixed" it by disabling USB 3.0 support, but at least it works now.

yes, there are 2 options for w7. You can either disable usb 3, or just not install the saitek drivers at all. The controller works fine with just the windows default drivers, which is how I am using it, because I wanted to keep USB3. The only issue is that the thumb slider, trim dials, and mouse function on the throttle don't work.
