Hardware & Technical X52 pro rudder spring?

So my rudder spring just crapped out. Anyone know a good fix, or am I gonna have to buy a new one?

its not unplayable, but I just hate that the left/right won't center...

Mine went a year an a half after I bought it. I got a new HOTAS from the warranty team. Hope you saved your receipt.

As the man says. If not take it apart, it is not difficult, just takes care and time. There is plenty of instructions online. Identify offending part (rudder spring?? is that "twist" spring ?) and make up something to replace it :)
It can be done.

You can either risk taking it apart yourself, and possibly voiding your warranty in the process. Alternatively, albeit patiently, if you are still within the warranty term and you can live without the setup for a few weeks, I suggest that you open up a warranty ticket. I have three x52Pro sticks for this particular reason, although my son does use one of the sticks to play ED. However, I have that backup once the inevitable event occurs necessitating the submission for warranty service.

I can attest, after sending sticks three independent times, that Saitek/MadCatz will service the unit. Most likely, they will send you a completely new set up. You need to submit the ticket along with proof of purchase (the receipt), but they are very proficient and equitable with warranty service or swaps. I have had nothing but a very pleasant experience with their warranty services.

Here is a link to their warranty service website, which starts with submitting a ticket: http://madcatz.kayako.com/Tickets/Submit

When mine broke I opened it just to see that there was some plastic oiece broken and I needed a whole new base. Since I can't fix plastic I sent a ticket but prepare for unprofessional service. My contact couldn't even speak the language properly and didn't even know what a HOTAS was.

My X52 went after 1500 hours 5 months from purchase. I sent Madcatz a message asking whether they could help. They asked me to send a photo of the receipt (screenshot from Ebay) and some photos of the X52, then they asked me to send them back. Two weeks later, I got a brand new X52 Pro in the post.

I didn't want to be without my X52 for two weeks, so I bought a X52 Pro set from PC World before sending back. I figured that £100 for 1500 hours wasn't bad. Now I have two sets, which is very useful for when I want to store my materials in my other account. I can run two PCs side by side to transfer the cargo from one ship to the other.

Be aware that the X52 Pro has different drivers from the X52, so you have to redo all your keybindings, even though it has the same buttons. That means make a note of them before you change. I didn't realise that, so, when I took off, I got in a lot of trouble and got killed by the station.

Yes we learn by our mistakes :)

My x52 pro has now had close to 2700 hours total game time and is still solid. the bump in the thruster has been removed and 3 extra buttons on handle fitted. PM if you want know details.
Wanted to fit extra buttons on flightstick, but not really possible as there is not room enough at suitable locations. :(
Thinking of putting 3 extra buttons on underside of thruster handle, that would give all'n'all 6 extra buttons. Which is cool.

The x52 can mostly be repaired easily, if you have not ruined the processor. It is cleverly thought out, but not assuring in quality.
(funny as I have a Mad Catz 5 or 7 mouse which oozes quality)
However cant complain really.

I have 3 old X52 Pro Rudder pedals sitting in a box, they are not the most sturdy piece of kit. Check if it's just a part that needs replacing, I could probably send you the part you need.

You're better off getting something more sturdy - http://mfg.simundza.com/products

Edit - Just checked, my old pedals are Saitek Pro flight pedals, are X52 pedals something different?

yea, it's the "twist" left/right. I can't find anything online about the tension being lost. Only about cleaning it to be smoother...

oh I don't use pedals. I use the "twist" on the flight stick. That's what broke, the tension spring on the twist... Thanks tho!

A spring hardly breaks . take the thing apart if you are out of warrenty (?) and try and locate the offender.

i believe I'm still under warranty. Well, if they can't see that I DID already take it apart. But it's weird. There is springs for the X & Y axis, but for the twist there is no visible spring. There are rods that look like they should have something keeping them centered, but I didn't any see pieces that looked like they had fallen out of place, I def couldn't find the issue, and I'm pretty technical...
