X52 Pro trigger question

So I've done a ton of fiddling, and I'm a little lost with the X52 Pro. It has a two stage trigger. Is that implemented in Elite? What I'd like to do, is assign my laser weapons to "half pull", then assign both lasers and multicannons to "full-pull" on the trigger.

It's either really obvious and I'm totally missing it, or impossible and I'd need to program a profile to make it work. Any other X52 users out there know the answer?

I'm guessing that you could change the function of the second stage so that it registers as a key press using the profile manager. That's probably the easiest way around things.
So assign the second stage to register as say "A" in the profile manager, then bind A to your desired function in game.

That's what I was thinking, but it's kind of an ugly kludge. Time to bug Frontier with MOAR feature requests!

I've also thought about doing this but haven't yet.
As above you can use the profiler to set up a keypresson the second trigger and then map that in ED.

I do also remember a post a while back saying that you can:
1/ Go into the keybindings in ED
2/ Navigate to Secondary Fire but don't click anything
3/ Press and hold the first trigger stage
4/ Whilst still holding the first trigger stage down, select remap Secondary Fire
5/ Once Secondary Fire keybind is open then click trigger it all the way in.

I've not tried it but it makes sense.

You can then assign fire groups as desired in your Weapons Panel in game.

I have got used to having the Primary/Secondary fire groups separate, give me the ability to fire 2 sets in all 3 ways with no probs.

If you try it and it works (same for me) then post it here matey.

Ta,

Spam.

I've just done it on mine.

Choose to assign fire button 2 in the game menu and then pull and hold the trigger all the way back, then release, and it binds.

Just fyi, this is with a blank profile and clutch mode disabled.

I tried that for a while [you can do it no problem btw] but I found myself over-triggering during dogfights too much. Instead I turned off "trigger automatically deploys hardpoints" or whatever and bound the second stage of the trigger to my lights. I can disco out while I'm tooling around and if I happen to turn my lights on and off during a dogfight, maybe I'in confuse my opponent with my silliness.

Hint: to bind just the second stage of the trigger all I had to do was hold down the trigger halfway (past the first register) before I clicked in the settings box for the feature, then when it was registering, I squeezed the trigger the rest of the way.

OK, you guys who mentioned holding the trigger halfway, every one of you is my hero now. THAT was what was killing me, every time I tried to assign secondary fire to the second stage, it picked up the first click. Thanks very much!

Weird, I didn't need to do that on mine?

I bound the primary fire to the first click, then secondary fire to the second, no holding down?

Ah well, at least you're sorted out now.

We need a tertiary fire button. I would love to have a use for the dual trigger on the x52 pro but my missiles are fired by the thumb button under the "safe" cover.
