Newcomer / Intro X52 Pro – where's secondary fire, and why doesn't boost work?

Fellow commanders,

I decided to do a little bit of bounty hunting tonight in my Cobra Mk III after a few nights of rare trading, enough to buy a few missiles and a good shield generator. I assigned my missiles to secondary fire in my primary fire group (beam lasers being my primary weapon), but I cannot for the life of me figure out which button is the secondary fire trigger on my X52 Pro. I'm using the built-in X52 profile, and I don't think I've changed it. Anybody know what it's supposed to be?

Also, I've never once been able to boost. Boost is supposed to be bound to the button with the 'i' on it on the throttle controller, and indeed when I press it, the button flashes on and off for a couple of moments, but my ship doesn't actually boost.

I must be missing something stupid, but I don't know what it is! Any help?

Thanks!
-CY

P.S. Got completely pwned by an Anaconda after a number of successful skirmishes and had to limp back to the nearest station before my poor Cobra expired! Good fun though.

I don't use X52 for some time, now, so sorry if I'm wrong, but:

In order to get "i" button working, go to the programming software, I think third tab, and disable the "clutch mode" (it's somewhere in bottom right corner if I remember correctly)
Secondary fire button is on the top of the joystick. Or go to Controls and remap is wherever you like (I had it on that cool one under the safety flick thingy.) :)

Boost button:

  • Click the icon in the taskbar
  • Open the control panel
  • Click the MFD tab
  • Bottom right > uncheck "Enable Clutch Mode"

That one had me scratching my head for a while too!

Secondary fire:

  • Open the game's control options (Esc > Options > Controls)
  • Find the secondary fire mapping. The game uses pretty clear icons for representing the buttons on the X52 Pro.
  • I remapped secondary fire to the pinkie trigger, as I swapped power distribution and vertical/lateral thrusters on the hat switches on the throttle and stick.

Bonus tip:

The game supports button combinations for commands. I mapped pinkie+silver hat switch to targeting. That means I only ever need to touch the keyboard for chat purposes.
