Newcomer / Intro X52 Shift and Clutch question

Hi Guys,
What are these? I've downloaded and installed the V2.2.3 file and bindings and installed them. When I print the config file out it mentions a "Shift" mode for each of the buttons. What is this?
Also I've read loads about the Clutch and the disabling of it. What is it and how do I disable it?
Thanks in advance.
Ian

The "shift made" is when you use the pinkie switch + another button to extend the functionality of your buttons You do this in Options > Controles.
I've set my "A" button to be "Jump" and Shift + "A" to Target Next Route System.

Also I've read loads about the Clutch and the disabling of it. What is it and how do I disable it?
Thanks in advance.

To acces where you can enable or disenable the clutch (button "I" on the throttle). click the Start Logo. Type USB and click "Set ug USB game controllers" then click properties. In the MFD tab you can untick it. Doing that releases the "I" button for use by Elite. I believe in flight simulatores the I button acts as a RL clutch.

Hope this helps.

Your shift button can be any button, not just the pinkie trigger. Personally, I like the pinkie trigger as secondary fire, and used the D button on the throttle as my shift key.

I got a new PC and now I have the same old problem, but the original thread where I found the solution is now locked, and all the pictures that helped are gone. :(

Can anyone please tell me how to:
1. get the game to recognise the pinkie switch on a Saitek X52 (not pro)
2. load a profile so the X52 (not pro) knows about it? (It used to show the profile name on the throttle screen)

Many thanks.

1. You have to edit the active profile to stop using the pinky as a shift, otherwise it's intercepted by the profile and the input never makes it to the game.

2. Use the profile software. Should be sitting in your notifications when the stick is plugged in.

Unprogramming the pinkie switch used to work, but not now, I have tried all settings and nothing works.
When I followed the pictures I did get it to work. They were missing but I think that it was because Photoshop will not host pics for other sites.
I think that it was Cmdr Calaban not sure of the name that posted the link, it was picture heavy his words.
Anyway I remembered how to do it but this time no luck.
The last drivers that worked I got from Saitek via Mad Ca*z I cant remember the name, now the downloads come dirictly from Logitech.
I have just sent an Email to them so hope to have an answer soon.
By the ay I use the D button for shift.

I'm also experiencing problems with the X52 pro pinkie trigger, namely I want to use it as mouslook switch but I can't get it to work. I did set it to "unprogrammed" or whatever it's called. Will have to look when I get on tonight. It's listed in Elite's controls but does nothing...

I had the same issue with the Pinkie button.. it just did nothing in Elite. It was because it was designated as a 'clutch' switch, so it didn't work as an actual button.

If you want it to work as an actual button, you can disable the clutch in Windows. Go to your Control Panel, and then click on Devices and Printers. Find the X52 and right click on it. Go to 'Game Controller Settings' and then 'Preferences.'

There should be an option toward the bottom of the menu that says 'Enable Clutch.' Just uncheck that and hit apply and it will set the Pinkie trigger as an actual button. It should then be assignable in Elite.

Same is true for the X52 Pro, only difference is that on the Pro, the Thumb throttle Button is the Clutch instead of the Trigger on the stick.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, but sadly, nope, didn't help, I already did that (thumb throttle "i" button is my boost, imagine my surprise when I wanted to boost).
Pinky trigger shows up in ED keybinds, it's even shaped like the pinky trigger, but doesn't work as mouselook activator. I'll maybe try to bind something else to it.
