Hi I’m new to the forum, “Hello”. I have just been getting into ED and I wanted to share my chair mod.
I have been thinking about doing a chair mod ever since I spotted the chair mod by Zorbulev. but the parts required for his mod are out of my budget.
I took a trip down to my local builder merchant. Which just so happens to be down the road from where I live.
While looking through all the building supplies, trying to get some inspiration I found some door hinges and gate hinges. This gave me an idea.
Below: flight chair mod for less than £10.
Items needed.
door hinge, x2 £2.00
gate hinge, x2 £1.20
6 gauge flat head screw 30mm, x4
6 gauge flat head screw 90mm x2
(same as above image but longer)
Wing nut to match, x6
10mm screw, x8 £1.00
Wood 60mm x 6mm x 10mm, x2 £1.00
Wood 60mm x 30mm x 10mm, x2 £1.00
All the items are easy to come by if you have a builders merchant to hand. I got all my items from Berry’s Leyland.
The wood cost me nothing, it only cost me 50p a per cut. You see in most builders merchants you can have scrap materials for free.
So I got some scrap wood and asked them to cut it to size.
To attach all the parts to my chair I needed a drill, luckily the arms on my chair are flat and plastic. I was also able to use my drill to make the holes in the hinges wider so my 6 gauge screws would fit.
Then I attached the wood to the hinges using the small wood screws. I’m sure you can workout where each goes.
Finally I used the the longer 6 gauge screws to create a way of locking the x55 in place.
and here it is...
x55 chair mod for less than 10 pounds. alot better than this.
not as organised as Zorbulev lol
Disclaimer:
This build will only work if you have the same type of chair.
I need to do this as I don’t really know all the correct building terms or names for items.
All the prices are rounded up to make it easier and I can not remember the exact price.
However I will be doing this build again for a friend. I will update the prices then.
End
Thank you for reading my post.
