You may consider it a downgrade but, I can't help but mention the Thrustmaster t16000m FCS. The stick is highly regarded, but you have one already. I bought the stand alone Throttle, the TWCS, from Thrustmaster and mated it up with my existing stick, and I am liking it. For $80.00, when added with the T-16000M you already have, you could have at least a great backup HOTAS for when your Saitek stuff bites it. The TWCS has tons of buttons. I have a number I haven't even mapped yet.

While the stick is good, it is a downgrade in eveything but reliability. The analogue on the FCS is terribly placed (throttle) and the base stick buttons are awkward. Still a good bit of kit though and decently accurate :) I have one for just the reason you mentioned; when my Saitek stuff breaks every 5 months and needs sending back :(

Sorry, but Saitek are the worst in my experience. I had initially bought an X45 years ago and the stiction was just awful. I sold it and bought a wireless Evo Cyborg what I had for about ten years but with very little use and repaired it a number of times replacing most components by cannibalizing a secondhand one I bought for spares. Satiek are just cheap plastic shaped and thrown together to look nice. Only when you take Saitek kit apart do you realise how cheaply made they are. When I got tired of having to keep repairing my wireless Cyborg, I bought a Warthog HOTAS and never looked back since.

I have Saitek flight pedals and now they're making an annoying clicking noise that sends my wife crazy. Personally I wouldn't buy Saitek again. But I'm sure others have had positive experiences.

like i said when it works it is a great stick (not much difference between the X55 and X56) the problem is .... google for images on X55 throttle wiring, and you will see the "obvious" design flaw. you wont have a problem with it till you do... which happens when the wires fatigue.

my 1st stick lasted 18 months - tho with hind site started crudding out after 12 months., My warranty replacement is about 12 months again and the same issues are starting (buttons on throttle not working when throttle in certain position).

the X56 has same wiring as the X55.

Is the X52 wired differently from the 56 and 55?
