Hardware & Technical X55 Hotas - Tips set up maps and advice please

Got my X55 today - must say Im pretty happy with the build quality etc considering it was half the price of the thrustmaster warthog I was considering.

Basically Im hoping people can share with me their tips - ideally a button map / bind so i can try a few settings that people have used to see if any suit me (if there exists a thread please feel free to point me in the right direction)

And generally advice about what works well and not so well for people... I read that turning flight assist off and using thrusters to assist a turn is a good combat trick - is there a good way to set the stick up for things like this?

Hello Sun.

I try to keep all my side thrust controls on the throttle thumb buttons and my vertical thrust on the handy pinky buttons.

For FSD on/off I use the throttle middle finger buttons.

For cargo scoop and fire group I use the push button functions on the two scroll wheels just in reach from my thumb.

On the stick its very easy to set up Menus/next target/and target ahead in what ever buttons on any of the 3 hat type buttons for your thumb along with primary fire for trigger and secondary fire on the pinky button.

Deploy/retract hard points on the pinky trigger.

target ahead on the thumb button.

This setup helps me maintain my hands on the hands and throttle at all times even in combat.

Hope this helps.

I found the best thing to do was to program the stick a little at a time rather than trying to do the whole thing in one go.
Try the docking tutorial and see what feels natural, once you are comfortable with the controls you defined move on

General advice - search works well in the forum:) There was a large post with all the profiles and discussion about X55.

Start out mapping basic controls. Try the tutorials, see what feels natural, add some bindings, try them out, change them if necessary.

I use CH Products but they're quite similar. I have all weapons and targeting mapped to the stick hats and buttons. All systems and things like gear, FSD, and UI controls I've mapped to the Throttle. Works well for me.
