X55 rhino bindings

Hey all, I finally broke down and got my hands on a nice rebuilt x55 rhino for cheap. I've been hunting and playing for a couple days now though trying to get to some comfort level on controls that not only work well for the hotas, but also with my Oculus on. I know I'll probably end up still changing more bindings, but wondered if anyone had a better starting point to share maybe?

I'm also really worried about the navmap with this setup. I always ended up taking my headset off alot when in the map to use the keyboard :(

HOTAS bindings are such a personal thing, there is no right or wrong way to set them up. Muscle memory will take over and eventually it'll be perfect for you.

Regarding the navmap. I don't really understand why so many people struggle with it in VR. I use the mouse to rotate, move and zoom in on a target without problems and then use a hat switch to fine tune movement and selection. It may not be as fast or precise as in 2D but it works fine for me in VR.

I use an X55, and can use the galaxy map fine. I did make a few changes to the bindings, but can't remember what they were. The only button I have had to assign to the keyboard are to move between tabs on the maps. I will assign them to the HOTAS at some point, but I didn't want to spend the time working out which buttons were still free (I know I don't use quite all of them). One button I did have to disable was silent running. I had a habit of hitting that instead of change firegroup, and when you do that in the middle of a fight you're in trouble as your shields go down. :)

I used the X-55 for a long time before I got VR, which has helped - I know where all the buttons are by touch.
