Hardware & Technical X55, x52 price

Hi!

I know there are a lot of threads about the x55 and x52 and (I am sorry to start another one, but I have one question I hope I may ask.

If you had the choice of buying a x52 (not Pro) for 115€ or a x55 for 190€ which would you buy?

For a little explanation:

I once was the proud owner of a Sidewinder and then made the mistake of buying the Cyborg Evo Force to replace it. I never liked the thing (mostly because of the spring problems that I didn't know could be modded away :) )

So it was gathering dust until I brought it back for E: D (and read about the spring modding).

It works pretty well now but the axis don't seem to be quite right anymore. I can roll faster to one side than the other and there seems to be a slight drift when centered.

I was concerned about the spring problems continuing with the x5(X) series of Saiteks but at 115€ it seemed to be a good buy to me (and I can use my Evo "mod" for the x52 I think) but of course the x55 seems to be the superior product, I am just not sure if it is a 75€ better product.

Likewise the x52 Pro doesn't seem to be worth the price increase either (at 180€)

What do you think?

Thanks!

Amazon prices vary from time to time. It was possible to get X55 Rhino for 149EUR about two weeks ago from amazon.fr. Now the price is about 200EUR.

personally I've gone for the standard x52 (if it ever turns up :( ) at nearly £100 its the most i've ever spent on a joystick - the x55 looks nice and all but its just too much money to spend on something that's only going to be used for one game, i'm going to save the cash and put it towards an oculas rift as i see that being much more useful n the long run.

It is still long time until OR CV1 release.

Hmm thanks for the advice, I think I don't want to spend much more than 120€ for a joystick so the normal x52 it is.

I too want a CV1 at some point and who knows I might buy the DK2 too!

So you might have spare $350 for a test product which would completely outperformed by CV1, which is twice as much as X55 and are not willing to spend more than 120€ for a HOTAS. I do not get it.

I find 350€ for a new kind of experience a worthy investment and 300€ for a joystick not so much.

I also know I will have to be very patient to wait for the CV1 and I know I might not be able to endure that long!

I don't think the gameplay difference between x52 and pro/x55 is as great as having a Rift and not having one.

However OR might cause dizziness and discomfort, this varies from person to person. Also the resolution of DK2 might still be not enough. And it is also doubtful whether you will be able to play in OR for several hours in succession.

So if you do not have TrackIR yet, I would recommend considering it.

As for joysticks the more buttons you have - the better. And as far as I know X55 are more precise than X52(Pro). Especially the improved version of X55.

You may also consider Thrustmaster T.16000M, however the throttle should be bought separately. In this case it is a good idea to consider CH Pro Throttle.
