Xbone release - what's going to happen to our forum?

  1. PC vs console debates
  2. A higher proportion of teenagers (demographics, not prejudice)
  3. A much higher proportion of rage threads (see 2*)
  4. A lot of confusion when it comes to discussion (does it apply to Xbox, does it apply to PC, how to answer questions)
  5. A hell of a lot of newbies asking the same questions we've asked 1,000 times (not against this, but just saying brace yourself)
What else?

This forum has given birth exponentially to a lot of powerplay rage threads already.

I read somewhere that the controls on the xbox version were changed to suite the xbox controllers. Does that mean shortcuts or some features have become automated/ removed for xbox players? I cant imagine being limited to only a few buttons for binding all the regular functions.

1. That happens everywhere. I'm sure mod will take care of if.
2. Teens do like games
3. Rage threads seem to be the norm already.
4. I would assume all feature and patches would apply to both. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to play in the same world.
5. Unavoidable even if it didn't get released on xbox.

rofl....there will be more gamers. With more systems and OS's there are going to be more issues. But considering how the PC crowd is, the console crowd can't be any worse.

I imagine it will remain much as it is, an eclectic mix of the sublime to the ridiculous.

I suggest you go and see a forum full of teens. Try "The Crew" In comparison to the rage here, it's like Greenpeace vs. ISIS http://forums.ubi.com/forumdisplay.php/497-The-Crew

Seriously, I haven't looked but I guarantee the front page of the general forum has 8 rage threads minimum. All complaining about extremely minor, preferential things as if they are complaining about the n a z i s

good thing is though, console users don't have alt-tab like we do.

Really though there should be a different forum for xbox players.

Presently you see this:

Home→Forum→Elite: Dangerous→Dangerous Discussion→"name of thread"

but now that the game is on the xbox console we should have:

Home→Forum→PC→Elite: Dangerous→Dangerous Discussion→"name of thread" {for pc elite dangerous players}

Home→Forum→xbox→Elite: Dangerous→Dangerous Discussion→"name of thread" {for xbox players}

or

Home→Forum→Elite: Dangerous→PC→Dangerous Discussion→"name of thread" {for pc elite dangerous players}

Home→Forum→Elite: Dangerous→xbox→Dangerous Discussion→"name of thread" {for xbox players}

you get the point.

lol, i could find 8 thread here complaining about extremely minor things

Overall, the type of gamer that ED attracts "should" be a bit mature. Even with CQC, this game does take some thinking, this isn't a pick up and play type of game. That alone "should" keep your advantage pre-teen/teen away.

I think my ignore list will start increasing, however, I am all for integration and I shouldnt judge until I have seen their content, after all, some of the posts on the forum are not exactly a shining example of maturity (I am including myself in this in case you think I am adopting the moral high ground....)

PC vs console debates, well at least that's one new thing.

You mean, nothing really will be different from now?

1. It's already happening now.
2. Plenty of these already - normally 'Pirates' moaning players don't like to be robbed to the procedure they would like.
3. Plenty of these too - normally tales of insurance woe despite admitting to knowing how re-buy works.
4. Hmm, this could be an issue depending how the different formats work. But a lot of issues raised are generic and should be the same. I might be being overly optimistic on this one though!
5. I don't mind. I've been one of those newbies and asked those questions. People were kind enough to offer quality advice and still do, at worst there's a bit of good natured sarcastic banter. Now maybe I've the experience to indulge in answering some of the newbies questions.

To give a better response to 2 & 3 and don't personally think this is a game that appeals to 'spoiled teenagers'. The few that do buy it on a whim will soon get bored and go back to whatever better fits their demographic.
