Try the link below, on that page there is a video that will launch. It think the video is: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/videoplayer/embed/RE25Rw4?autoplay=false
Link: http://xbox.com/adaptive-controller
.

I think this is huge for gaming but I thought to post it as a discussion because I also thought to myself.....does this expand things for a game like Elite Dangerous?

what pops in your head especially when considering this offers a third option

It's Logitech too. If Logitech are throwing their considerable hat in the ring with the Xbox and moving the onus from Microsoft with the peripheral support...cue the likely possibility of being able to use one of these with the adaptive controller :)

The possibilities are encouraging...

Hey Mole HD.

That's why I posted it as I don't know about that specific HOTAS but their other Logitech Hotas is literally being used on Forza.

I cant see why that same device wouldn't work on this game

Exactly...I use the X56 on PC for E-D and flight sims and love it. Logitech bought out Saitek a year or so ago so the X5* series of HOTAS are now built and supported by them.
The X56 is dual USB however and needs 2 ports, one for the throttle and one for the stick and I only saw one USB port on the adaptive controller. That aside, the X52 Pro-flight, the singularly most popular HOTAS among PC players, is single USB with a link cable similar to the HOTAS one from Thrustmaster...except the link cable is detachable plug in and not fixed.

I had the X52 before upgrading to the X56 and rate it just as highly. You'd need a desk to use either of those HOTAS rigs though...they're both pretty heavy due to the build quality (X52 has a metal base) and considerably larger than the T-Flight, so no sitting with an X52 on your lap for E-D in front of the telly...

This mock up pic might not be that far away from reality after all :)

I'd think in the range of £75 to £100 knowing Logitech...I know the price of the X52 and X56 aren't cheap by any standards at around £175+ on average for the X52 and £250+ for the X56. No idea how that'll work out in USD though since those hardware manufacturers seem to adjust prices in a way not conversant with exchange rates.

If I was considering an X52 or X56 for simply one game out of my entire library, I wouldn't have spent the cash...but I play a good many flight sims more than anything so I could almost justify the cost...if I gritted my teeth and shut my eyes as I clicked on the big button...

... added to the cost of the adaptive controller and for use solely in E-D on the Xbox which has few...if any... other titles to utilise a HOTAS rig, I'd probably baulk at the outlay.

Comparatively though... an Xbox Elite controller will cost around £150 with no more function than a basic controller in most games including E-D...that £175 for a custom HOTAS in the range of the X52 doesn't seem as bad then....even if you only use it for E-D. I paid well over £100 for a gaming keyboard and mouse...so the HOTAS and adaptive controller isn't that bad...comparatively [rolleyes]

Well the adaptive controller is really impressive and will allow people to play games again who could no longer use a normal controller, and in some cases for the first time.

Well done to ALL involved.

Now, Mole HD, will you please kindly refrain from getting people all excited. Sheeesh!
