Xbox controller context menu customisation (PC)

Hi Guy's,

I've moved this from the support section as it was fruitless place to post it

Does anyone know a way to customise the context menu's for the default xbox controller settings?

Or is there any compatible software I could use to do this?

Controller customization options are currently severely limited by button behaviour, i.e. you can't use sequential button functions effectively due to primary button functions activating with the secondary ones in the sequence (hope that makes sense)

Due to the lack of reliable or affordable HOTAS systems out there I think this could be very useful for the community.

Thanks

Theres a bug in he config file preventing any changes.
Very odd.
Go here (may need hidden files shown)
C:\users\yourname\appadata\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

Open the file with notepad, and look for a line that says
<LockedDevice>{something?}</lockeddevice>
And just remove whatever's in the middle.

While you're at it, you can rename the file to a better name, 'myconfig.bind' for example.
And change the preset name in the file, under <Root PresrtName="whatever"....>
To "myconfig"

Then ED won't overwrite it :D

Edit: maybe misread your post, but advice still stands!

If you want to change a context button, it's all abit backwards.
Say you want landing gear to be B + D-Pad Down.
You need to hold D-Pad Down, then press B.
Not the other way around.

and pay attention that the d-pad + B, sometimes active you the boost button (if it's B same as xbox one)...
near the station it's not fun :(

Thanks Cmdr,

This looks promising. I'll have a look and see what i can do with this.

Repped ;)

I just moved over to pc from the xbox with the intention of buying a HOTAS but there just isn't one that fits the bill currently. I want to incorporate yaw into the trigger buttons to provide maximum fluidity and utility to flight.

Yep, got very familiar with that humdinger early on. I remember loosing an asp full of rares to the back of a station once!

Move the boost to L3 or R3 to rectify that.

The T-Flight Hotas is quite cheap now, 30 squids.

Its a hardy piece of kit and very accurate, you can do stuff with a hotas a pad could never do, tailgating condas for example.

I'll second that one as well.

I've mostly played on the Xbox version, but have also been dabbling in the PC version, initially still using the Xbox controller and layout I was familiar with. Saw some posts one here mentioning how cheap the T-flight Hotas X was, so it was a no brainer to give it a try - still training myself to get used to it but seems pretty good so far. There's even a great post on here with a decent configuration for it that I've just imported and am running with for now (makes setting it up a lot less daunting!!)
