Xbox Controller not longer works since Update 14

Hi All,

Mx xbox controller no longer works since update 14.
  • I have tried it via my account on Steam which olny navigates in the main menu and does notihing in game (controls all set to default control Pad. Tried to change Steam controller setting to XBOX that did not help
  • I have tried it with a non steam account again all set to default control pad, this works a little the A & B Buttons work but are not bound correctly as they worked before the update, non oth the other butoons work
  • I have connected by bluetooth and USB
  • I have tried both Xbox One and Series X controllers and checked they are up to date
  • Works fine on my old PC
Any suggestions please?

I had this same problem when update 10 came out. If I remember right I did the following to get it to work...right click elite in my steam library, properties, controller. I then changed "use default settings" to "disable steam input" Doing that gave me controls back to elite, I have since gone back to the default settings without errors following a reinstall. Hope this works for you, it took me hours to figure it out and no one in here could offer any suggestions. Good luck.

I have run an update to windows and since the xbox controller bindings look correct but when i am in station and try to click on services with the usual select button, it opens local chat and it ready to type and does not go into station services.

Thanks for that The steam Account is working. Now just need to sort the non steam one

I would completely exit out of steam and then try your other launcher, also maybe make sure steam big picture mode isn't activated until sorted.

I fixed the steam probem thank to Arden. It is now just the Frontier Account that is not working properly, i have opted to reinstall it and see if that works.

Well I have fixed the A button bringing up local chat rather than selecting stuff by deleteing the quick chat key binding which was not assigned on controler and ENTER on the keyboard. Now i am airbourne am finding i now the back function does not work to get out of the side panels, but this can be toggled with 1 2 3 4 so playable at least. It seems to think both tha A and B Buttons are select, rether than B being back. Thanks for everyones advice.

Thanks for this, I have cracked the problem. If anyone has similar issues with the default control pad bindings with the sypmtoms above DELETE the KEYBOARD Bindings for Quick Chat (Enter) in Ship Controls, then UI PANEL SELECT (Space) & UI BACK (Backspace) in General Controls. This has fixed my issues (though more may well manifest as i have only just started playing.

I thought I had this problem but it just turned out that Elite (and only Elite) has decided to swap my d-pad and left stick.

I get so little spare time.

Just took my ship from Sol to my FC and the xbox controller I use worked fine, no changes/updates or tweaks required.

I have a similar problem. I am using GFN on my Xbox. I have enabled Xbox controller support in my Steam account, but when I launch the game none of the controls work. The in-game controls menu does not have any options for controllers. Does this mean that I have to manually map the buttons on my controller?

Today's update was an odd one for me.
When I loaded it up, the only controller input working was the A button.
Went and closed the game, restored my keybinds, loaded it again.
This time, the game wasn't seeing the pad at all. not registering any inputs. The pad worked fine in everything else.
Needed several reboots of the game before it randomly began seeing it again.
