Xbox elite controller on PC question

Hi commanders, for various reasons i play with an xbox controller on pc, but i'd really need some additional buttons :D

I'm considering to buy an xbox elite controller, or more likely a powerA fusion pro, but i'm asking you how flexible are the binding of the back paddles on elite dangerous.
I mean, can i bind them as totally separated buttons or they have to match existing buttons?
Can i use them with modifiers?

Thanks commanders.

No idea, but a friend plays with a type of xbox controller, and just uses the keyboard as a second input thingy. I imagine they are programmable like other controllers, but hopefully someone has one to confirm for you.

I'm using a Razor Wolverine on both Xbox and PC. On the Xbox there's a downloadable app for mapping buttons, works great. But I haven't figured it out on the PC yet and the extra buttons are inoperative.

edit:
And no, Elite does not see the extra buttons on either platform. They have to be mapped to standard buttons.

With the Xbox elite controller you can not by default, you need an app called Rewasd, which isn’t free but goes on sale now and again and I believe you can use the free version for a short time to try it out. makes it possible to use nothing but the controller with many binds possible, I have a hotas but find using the controller far more convenient 95% of the time.

I only use 2 of the paddles, which I've bound to "press left stick down" and "press right stick down" - as I really hate doing that while using a controller.

I also use the shortest trigger distance for space fights and the longest for driving the srv.

AFIK The XB1 elite controller doesn't allow you to map the paddles to anything other than the existing buttons on a standard B1 controller, however, you can get the chat pad and then bind any "key" to any function in game. But, if you are buying a controller for Elite, and play on PC for XB1 Elite controller money you'd be far better served with a thrustmaster t16000 setup, either hotas or better still twin sticks.

Plus the series 2 has bluetooth wireless connectability if you don't want to have the cable in the way. And very good battery life due to the built-in lithium-ion battery.

Downside, if that battery dies, you'll have to use it with the cable, but yeah if you have limited desk space or like to play from a recliner or sofa, there's plenty of reason to use that controller in lieu of or as a supplement to a HOTAS setup.

I have one, its great, had to buy something called reWASD to bind the paddle things to thrust left and right (top paddles) and FA off and FSD toggle (bottom paddles) reWASD is easy enough to use. Only had it a week or two and its all been ok so far. Helps with CQC where previously I only used hotas. The battery seems endless, not ran out yet!
Hope this helps,
moc

I tried using bluetooth with my series 2 and found it very unreliable. I ended up getting the Xbox wireless adapter for windows and now it's absolutely perfect and the range seems great by the way. I'm gaming on PC and it's like playing on Xbox, like what I'm used to, I love it. Heck, I even have the game streaming from my PC to a raspberry pi to the HDTV. I've got a good setup going right now for elite dangerous
