Xbox Game Pass would benefit Elite greatly

1. Game Pass would bring a lot more people to Elite both on Xbox and Win10
2. Game Pass encourages people to buy DLC since the game was basically free. MS has gone to say that this has actually helped many games.

So Frontier gets more money, more people get to experience Elite, and more people will be in the game. Also I don’t see how MS wouldn’t go for this .

Sound good to me. The game is actually cheap enough and MS do sometimes make the effort to put it out there on sale at times, but maybe the Game pass would bring them in a little more in revenue and as you say encourage more people to the game in the long run.

Fly safe Cmdr's

Seeing as the GP is a subscription it would encourage people to try it at least then if they don't like the game, they are not losing out if there's such a thing with ED.

I already pay for Origin(EA) Access on PC...had the opportunity for Game Pass when I bought State of Decay 2 from the Windows store...since it's cross platform play and all that. But more subs? [sad]

Maybe if I still had friends.... :D

And games get rotated out of the game pass, so if you didn't buy the game and it's rotated out then you cannot play it unless you buy it. But you do get a discount.

Yes, right, that's another good point to do it . The chances are high that people that originally wouldn't have bought the game will after they have tried (and liked) it.
I bet a lot of people would buy after game pass even if it's just to not lose DLC or progress. I would.

Game pass is a monthly paid service that allows you access to a plethora of garbage, and sometimes a handful of good games.
IKr I like that the entire gears franchise and a couple of third party AAA games are on their but what the is that one with the German lady who has that vapor wave text on her?

I think gamepass will only put Elite Dangerous in negative light.

Learning curve of the game is to steep to just "install to try it"

Most people playing through gamepass will try it for a hour or 2, say it sucks and its impossible to land, will slam some complaints on twitter, youtube, and facebook. Other people pick that up, and pass on the message that Elite sucks without even trying it. And people already hating on the game see it as an opportunity, and tosses some extra fuel on that fire ect ect ect..

Nah, gamepass is only good for those easy to pickup games..

While I agree with most of what you said, resident evil 1 and 0 are both on GP and neither of those are games I would call easy to pick up.

But yeah the hate train will start and just run rampant kinda like battlefront 2.

ok yeah but battlefront 2 deserves every amount of hate going towards it. Also yes elite is hard but I’m prett sure people would get into it. They have a mega man collection on game pass and it’s been on there forever so you know people play it and mega man is not an easy game.

Hmmm.

There's probably more than a sprinkle of truth to your words there (more like a big fat dollop) - but at the same time - you're kinda saying you don't want unwashed joe public visiting your walled garden - and that kind of 'elitist' (lol) attitude in a community can all too easily accelerate the stagnation and death of a game over the long run.

With an influx of new players, yes the bad blood would surely make a lot of unpleasant noise and be icky for everyone else to deal with, but they'll only leave you in peace when they move on anyway - meanwhile the new blood that sticks around would mainly be the kind of players you're looking for, but you won't get them in any kind of quantity without a promotional shot in the arm of this nature.

So yeah, hypothetical gift horses and mouths and some such.

Oddly enough, my first thoughts were in line with DustyArne’s. The game has a learning curve. To me its not about not letting new blood in, more about will they stick with it. Or worse. Realize that the game is a bit shallow. Sure, we’re in a transition to fix that (hopefully) but as it is now, I find a lot of people might be annoyed by the mile wide inch deep set up. As a long time player and fan, I find myself only able to play for brief stints before I just run out of things that seem fun.

But I went off track there. Maybe a free demo could accomplish the same thing. Of course that has problems of it’s own.

Looking at it from a similar perspective on the PC side...E-D always gathers some new blood during the persistent Steam sales so there's no reason to doubt that a similar approach on Xbox via Gamepass would garner the same results.

Like everything else...some that get the concept of E-D stick around, those who are looking for something else quickly move on.

I mean..Steam and it's sales...almost every major title or franchise has between 40% and 80% reduction in the current 'intergalactic summer bonanza'. I've added a fair few games to my library already, including a good many that had been on my wish list...like forever [where is it]
