Xbox Heats Up, Gets Hot, Can't Take Its Clothes Off

Soooo I've been enjoying the heck out of E:D since Game Preview was introduced but I must say that my Xbox One gets hot within an hour of play. Like, fans-roaring-to-keep-it-cool hot. Anybody else experience this? This is the ONLY game that does this to me. I've had extensive play sessions on all of my other games and have NEVER experienced this.

How old is your console? Mine is relatively new and I don't get much of a heat problem. It does get warm but not to the point where I can burn my hand on it. Also, I don't use a fan to cool it either. If anything I get more heat problems playing Elderscrolls online than I do with ED

Side story:

The wife convinced me that it was time to switch cable companies again. I agreed and we found a deal. The day the installer came out she stayed home while I went into work.

I came home that night to a mess.

The installer not only did NOT hook the cable box up because he didn't know how to wire it into my XB1..

But he also neglected to hook the cable box up to the TV at all to see if it worked. So after two hours with fidgeting with it I realized he had dropped off a busted box.

To top it all off, he put the XB1 on top of the DVR. Like.. RIGHT on top of it. In this tiny hole of the TV-stand where if left for too long would overheat and destroy everything.

Seriously cable companies.. where the eff do you find people so g stupid?

I pulled everything out of the wall and had my wife cancel the new service. I'm not dealing with those morons again.

Really? ESO is great for me. And my console is literally under 2 weeks old. I sold my Day One to a friend and took advantage of GameStop's trade in to get a new one + 2 free games. But yeah, this is the only game that this happens on.

My nephew does the same thing. I guess I may have to just invest in a small oscillating fan... Still, I really don't think this crap should happen. It can't be my Xbox. I've gone 10+ hours on other games before (hey now, I've got a life, just...ya know... Work life be trippin'), and not heat issues ever arise, even on my older console.

Don't get me wrong. Eso is runs well. Just after a long session, it does get hotter than if I play ED for the same amount of time. It's not much of a difference, but it's noticeable. But then it has been pretty hot weather wise the last few days, so that might have something to do with it.

I mean, the heat here hasn't been too bad, plus I run my AC (I'm in The Land of the Corrupt (Illinois)). It's just weird that a brand new box would have to work so hard to keep itself cool during one game.

I have two day one editions both never seem to have a problem with heat at all I feel this may have something to do with either console location if it's in like a tv stand or possibly the new xboxs may have an issue

This game is the only one that makes my xbox run its cooling fan on high when the game freezes.

None of my other games give me this same issue.

I never hear it kick on my fan though I keep it pretty cool in my house and it doesn't get too ridiculously hot here in VA plus both are in extremely open areas and I constantly use compressed air to clean them

As others have stated here my console does the same thing. After approximately an hour of playing, the cooling fan kicks into high gear. But oddly enough the fan shuts down around 30 seconds after quitting the game. For what it's worth my console is only 6 months old.

Mine does the same thing but only with Elite Dangerous.
Game crashes and fan roars away for a minute or 2.
Xbox is out in the open and we'll ventilated.
I can play other games for 8 hours or more in one go without this happening ever.

Exactly the same thing has happened to me! The xbox one i have is a Day One edition and I found that it would consistently crash the game when over heated and spur the internal fan on. But Ive definitely FOUND that using a desktop or normal fan pointed over the grills of the xbox has worked very effectively and since doing so has not crashed once. Would definitely be good for either microsoft or frontier to look into this and give us some feedback regarding this problem???

The reason for that is because the build we have right now is far from optimized for the XB1 hardware. The devs even mentioned it in one of their posts. Uneven code like this can cause the hardware to run hot, and those installations where they are close to the line in terms of optimal ventilation etc. are being pushed over the edge by the game's demands. Couple that with the constant crashing and you have a pretty XB1 unfriendly title in ED as it sits right now.

My machine has been fine so far, but I have NEVER seen this many crashes with any other XB1 BETA I have tested before this one. The next one in line is not even remotely close to this level of hard crashes.
