During the xbox one party chat podcast David Braben has confirmed that 1.6 will be coming to xbox before horizons.

It's actually coming the end of May-ish, while Horizons is slated for...mid June? Something like that.
I would have thought that 1.6 would be early june with horizons launching around the 21st.

I reckon this game will drop on PS4 at the same time Horizons hits console.
...why? There's zero competition between the three big space sims. There's just not enough games in the genre yet to warrant competing.
NMS fanboys seem to not be able to comprehend that, unlike us &...um...you know who I mean!
Not only that, but Elite is Xbox, and NMS is Playstation. There is no competition. It's like Halo VS Killzone. The vast majority of Xbox peeps I know, don't even know what Killzone is, because they play Xbox.
Braben actually spoke about competition in the podcast and says that competition is good. But there is no competition with elite on xbox and NMS so it shouldn't effect the release of horizons.

I hope it does and FD look into cross platform play it would so rock, plus PS lot have had to wait long enough for this great game, the more players playing ED the better for all.

And just like that, the space sim "wars" are over. I'd rep if I could.
As I don't give a rat's rear about NMS, and I only follow Star Citizen due to Chris Robert's affiliation, I can safely say I hope the devs take their time with 1.6 and beyond. I'd rather wait for a less buggy release than get an update now with seriously game breaking bugs because the devs saw people get impatient.
1.6, 2.1, they'll arrive when they arrive. Only now we have a basic timeframe instead of just soon(TM).

They sold 18M copies. I would be happy to see that happening to ED.
Ain't that sad. A game with a completly broken release sold that much.
