Newcomer / Intro Xbox One Controller

Hi Guys,

I have just purchased ED and am i finding it almost impossible to play the game on a Xbox one controller. On training missions I can't even keep up with the training target nevermind kill it. Also having issues with fact that there is so many controls that I need a guide or someone with a working map to advise what needs bind and what doesn't as it seems as soon as I bind one thing something else breaks. At this moment its rather annoying as it seems virtually impossible to play on this controller. Thanks in advance to any replies.

Try a search for the key-bindings, there are loads of ideas on the forum for sticks/pads etc. A tip: keep throttle in the blue zone for best manoeuvrability

Personally, I'm a keyboard/mouse player and have no problems with it, but appreciate some need a pad/stick etc.

i play on the xbone controller just fine. you just have to bind your buttons correctly. For instance, i have A as my combat button, so:

LT/RT = Primary/Secondary fire
LB/RB = Reverse/Forward thrusters

A + RT = deploy/retract hardpoints
A + < or > = Cycle hardpoint fire groups
A + ^= Target ship
A + V (down) = Target biggest threat

X is bound to my ship systems

X + < or > = Left/Right Hud menus
X + V (down) = Landing Gear Up/Down
X + ^ = Engage Frame Shift Drive

Left stick = pitch and roll
Right stick left/Right = Yaw left/right
Right stick up/down = Up/down thrust

Left/Right stick click (the sticks buttons) = thrust left/right

app button (the one that used to be select) = Boost

Abd i still have Y and B buttons that i can map to whatever i want

I play with a wired Xbox One controller and have no problems. (looking forward to them launching the wireless dongle support for PC)

It's not the controller, check your bindings and learn your systems. If you can't keep your target in front of you it's not the controls, it's more likely you aren't familiar with power management and keeping your throttle in the blue zone (sweet spot) for manoeuvring.

Here are my XB1 bindings:-

Thrusters - left stick up/down
Yaw - left stick left/right
Pitch - right stick up/down
Roll - right stick left/right
Thrust left/right/up/down - D-pad
(no real need for thrust forward/backwards as normal thruster control is fine - see above)
Stop engines - left stick (press down)
Secondary fire - left trigger
Primary fire - right trigger
Deploy hardpoints - right stick (press down)
Lock target - 'Y'
Divert power to systems - A+left D-pad
Divert power to engines - A+down D-pad
Divert power to weapons - A+right D-pad
Engage/Disengage FSD - X+down D-Pad
Engage/Disengage supercruise - X+left D-Pad
Navigation panel - left bumper
Systems panel - right bumper
Deploy/retract landing gear - B
Deploy/retract cargo scoop - A+up D-pad
Panels operated using D-Pad (or left stick) to navigate, A to select, B to cancel + left/right triggers to move tabs
Galaxy/system maps (same as above)
Galaxy map shortcut - back button

I also use Voice Attack which works amazingly.

I can just about get by without touching the keyboard at all - unless say I need to type in a system name or something.
