Xbox One Controls different from Xbox controller on PC

Hey Elitists,

I've seen other topics talking about controls, but not about this specifically:

Why are the default controls opposite from those in Elite on the PC when using an Xbox or gamepad controller?

I have:

LS: forward/back = throttle, left/right = yaw
RS: forward/back = pitch, left/right = roll

This is perfect, corresponds to what you get on RC flight controllers (drones) and pretty much every flight sim I can think of.

The control scheme on the sticks in the Xbox One version make no sense to me.

Button assignments and menus are something I can get around, but not this. I won't be playing the Xbox version until I can remap the throttle to the stick.

Some other tweaks:

Afterburn on left stick click. Put the alternate control scheme on another button. maybe...

Back button == snap friends panel. That's going to burn a lot of people in combat accidentally hitting that button. Needs to be remappable. On my PC, I've set it to UI Back so I don't accidentally switch out a screen when using the B+dpad combos I have set up.

I know this is an early release and expect these things'll get fixed at some point. I bet releasing patches on the Xbox is harder than it is for the PC version where Frontier owns all the servers and distribution, but hope they can come soon.

I played on the PC with an xb1 controller for a while. I actually prefer the layout on the console better, though it took some getting used to. More controls are mapped, there is no real need for a kb at this point. I hope they bring this control set to the PC so that if I have to switch back to gamepad I can use it.

They also are doing the left stick to toggle roll/yaw that I had mapped myself on the PC, so that right analog stick can be used purely for vector thrusting. Works nice in my opinion.

depends on what you're used to, I guess. I'm having a hard time with it.

I do like having the ability to toggle into an alternate control mode for vectoring though.

I am getting more comfortable with the default control schemes, but more customization options would be welcome. I will say that the radial menus are pretty nifty.

The reason I want to be abel to keep that right stick dedicated for vector thrust is, purely for combat. Especially with the smaller ships, you'll want to be able to slide left and right to avoid fire while returning fire yourself. I've also found that when in a circle fight I can use some downward thrust, carefully applied, to shorten my turn radius. On some ships like the cobra, there's enough inertia that applying downward thrust while pulling back on pitch will actually get your ship moving in reverse, and that's a handy way to start your ship moving backwards (which is a combat tactic that is used often, including by NPCs).

I found I wasn't able to pull off these more advanced combat maneuvers without right stick being used for thrust, because I needed to use both thrust and pitch/roll at the same time.

I prefer the console controls to the pc control setup. Can we have the XBONE controller profile for pc pleeeeeeeeese?

Figured out most of it, still one issue

It took me a while to figure out how to activate the comms panel to request docking. I haven't quite figured out the LS click, one way gives you roll, the other doesn't. Took me several sidewinders to realize the need to switch in flight.

Is there an 'all stop' button? On PC I use 'x' to kill the engines over the landing pad. For xbox, it has been a combo of LB/RB until the station locks me down.
