XBOX ONE ELITE CONTROLLER SUPPORT....?

not very deep. the paddles can only replicate other buttons. there is an app that lets you change what buutons do but its only swapping around assignments and you can mess with some bits

that said i like mine its solidly built and i moved onto the paddles the throttles so i can fire and move.

i also moved the alt flying controls to a lower paddle and the free look button too as i have a habit of pressing to hard on the thumb stocks in the middle of a fight

I still need to find out if I can use the extra buttons as actual extra buttons on my PC.

If I can, I may just yet save for one of these things. (I'm addicted to peripherals. I already have a Saitek X52 HOTAS, Xbox 360 Controller, Steam Controller & a Wacom Bamboo Tablet hooked up to my PC. I need more USB 2.0 ports... Ooh, that's right, I need to get a USB memory stick!)

I like mine, can't do macros unfortunately. Like Mads, I also use the lower paddles as thruster inputs rather than lb rb.

I hope at some point we can customize the key bindings, lowering landing gear is always a brief moment of panic where I might actually boost instead

I know the feeling. I still got my CH pro throttle & pedals, 2x Ms FFB2 joystcks. Track IR 1 & 2 & no rig to use them with, but I wont part with them. Just incase one day. Also got Thrustmaster & saitek sticks in the loft even though they spike. could not throw em! madness I tell Ya!

XBox One Elite Controller support.
Is it there?...if not, when?
If yes, how deep does its ability run?(...like macros n such)

I've had my Elite since release day and LOVE IT! Despite the fact that it doesn't do macros and all the other stuff we originally assumed, it still provides FAR BETTER control of your ship than the standard XB1 controller can.

Simply being able to map the Throttle UP and DOWN (LB and RB) to those two smaller underside paddles makes a HUGE difference in combat. Especially during dogfights and Hyperspace maneuvering for Interdiction. Mapping the "X" button to the lower LEFT paddle then allows me to cycle through my Firegroups quickly using the same smaller left and right paddles.

ALL of the above controls can be worked without the need to take your thumbs off the sticks, or change any of your finger positions. Once you get familiar with this new way to control your ship, to the point of mastering it, you will never be able to go back to the standard controller. (At least that is how I feel about it)

I've tried going back a couple of times just to see how much of a difference it made. Saying it makes a HUGE difference is not an overstatement.

Couple that to the build quality of the controller itself, and you have one of the single biggest gameplay improvements you can make on the XB1 version right now. The feel of the sticks and all the other buttons are excellent. I expect the Elite will outlast a standard controller by a factor of 2 to 1 at least, and probably longer. So over time, the initial investment cost will be a wash and you are left with a much higher quality controller experience. Not to mention the ability to control your ship in a way that is physically impossible to duplicate on the standard XB1 controller.

I LOVE them too! I have a closet full of CH Products Yokes, Combat Stick, Pro Throttle, Rudder Pedals and the like... But they are all Serial ATA interfaces, that shows you how ancient they are. (from my X-Plane Flight Sim days on my Mac Pro - Circa 1998-2002)

But I am dying to have the ability to play ED using similar controls, and I doubt the XB1 is ever going to have the ability to run these cool add-ons. Would love to be proven wrong on that score, but being realistic about it, I would be very surprised if I am ever proven wrong on that topic.

So...

I recently decided to bite the bullet and begin to build my own Ultimate Elite Dangerous Gaming PC. Something I never thought I would ever do, but having the game on my XB1 has really wetted my apatite to experience the game at the highest performance levels possible today. I have been waiting for a realistic feeling space sim game like ED to be created for 30 years, so its hard not to want to experience the game at its highest performance levels, and using more realistic input devices you would normally associate with a space ship like those found in ED. The Elite Controller is the best video game style controller option out there, even on a PC, but for me, a HOTAS, dedicated Throttle and ship function switches are what I prefer. Fortunately, the Flight Sim community/industry has really blossomed since I was active in it all those years ago, so there are tons of physical control panels, switch boxes and stuff you can buy to use with ED. :D

So, for me, the search was on for the bits and pieces I have chosen for my rig and yesterday I found my first "killer deal" on one of the most important ones!

Found a great deal on an ASUS GeForce 980ti STRIX graphics card yesterday and bought it, so now I am officially committed to actually doing it instead of just thinking about it. But I am in no rush either. Going to take my time buying all the various pieces I have formulated will create the most kick-ass gaming platform for under $3500.00 (no monitor in that price). The 980ti has always been at the core of my Ultimate ED rig, and I doubt I am going to find a better price than what I paid, even if I waited another 12 months. Now I need to track all the other parts in my list and buy them as the price drops into a similar range as the 980ti did. I could buy it all tomorrow, but I find it a fun challenge to seek out the best possible deals and be able to take advantage of those deals as they happen. :D

It will be curious as to whether I will be playing Horizons for the first time on the XB1, or on this new rig by the end of Summer? Will the Horizons experience on the XB1 make me glad I am building a Gaming PC to play it? Or will I feel like I just wasted 3500 bucks to play something the XB1 can do almost as well?

And this is why I wish the doctor would say I'm not too dangerous to work...
