Xbox One version - My quick preview

Drive speed can have a "minor" impact on game performance.

You are correct... There wasn't a "public beta" for GTA5. But it was beta tested.

I somehow don't believe there was any BETA test for GTA V other than at Rockstar.

You keep mentioning that if the game is released like this it won't go down well. Guess what? It won't be. You're a seasoned Beta tester, you should know this...

I'm actually running my game on a "Solid State" external and the frame rate still sucks. Having beta tested GTA5 on this same machine and drive, it is most certainly not the XB1's fault. This is just VERY bad coding and a really lame rendering engine. Don't know if they built it themselves our bought one of the ready made ones out there, but someone with some real experience in rendering engine tech needs to seriously step in and take over this portion of the game's development. Whomever they have now is clueless. Seriously clueless!

The game is doomed if it gets released like this. The game reviews are going to tear it to shreds over the frame rate alone. No excuse for this anymore. Both the XB1 and the PS4 have proven they are fully capable of running a game FAR more demanding than anything I have seen in ED at a solid/locked 30fps and in the case of a game like Forza on XB1, a solid and locked 60fps.

Again...This is Frontier's problem. Not the XB1.

You are pretty much spot on there.
I'm afraid the game on Xbox One may end up with just us die hard fans playing it, which I'm sure will be a lot but nothing like it should be.
I will still play it but I really do hope they invest their preview funding into a good Developer team to take care of the graphics issues.

They will probably start fixing this stuff Monday is my guess. Since they were probably in full PR "buy our game" mode for this week at E3. Or maybe I'm too optimistic, we'll see. ;)

OP

Though I appreciate what you're doing here. I don't think you seem to grasp the point of the preview or what a beta is for that matter. I backed this game from the start, if you think this is unplayable well. Hmm I've put a dozen or more hours into this version, purchased ships explored, killed some bounties, formed a wing. Traded, etc. Yes frame rates get choppy at times, yes sound sizzles, NO controls are not a mess, they could be refined but i am at novice for killing 90% about to rank. No issues killing my foes. No super Xbox one here.

Everything you've stated is already posted here already. Again putting it in one place ok cool.
To say you cannot recommend this in its current state? Um I don't agree

To those who have read this. Read before you buy, not his review but what the devs provided for you to read on the games description, this is an unfinished product. It will have bugs, lag, frame rate issue, etc.
I highly recommend playing this game, EVEN in its current state. Its the same version as on PC, yes its got some issues, but it is playing better today than day one.

Ditto?

I've been playing since premium beta on PC, on a medium range rig - i7 960 and SLI nvidia 570s.

Xbox framerate and graphics settings are way below what I'm used to.

As for controls - on PC I have my saitek x52 pro stick, pedals, and Track IR... the xbox pad can't compare to that.

All that said... Despite the fact I'm flying a fully kitted out vulture with millions in the bank on my PC commander, I'm finding myself more inclined to boot up the xbox version. I'm a console gamer at heart, and much happier sitting on the couch playing than in the corner, hunched over my PC

Guess what I'm saying is that despite PC version being technically superior, xbox version still holds it's own. And remember, this is a cobbled together beta release; judging by the improvements in the PC version from beta to gamma, I'm sure we'll see significant improvements in the frame rate and refinement in controls.

No course I dont .. I have just been playing the Alpha and Beta of the PC version for the last year and a half ... I am well aware what a 'beta' is thank you very much

This wasn't a 'whiny' thread , its just pointing out the current issues with the One version that's all ...

Jeez .. cant say anything on these forums without some jumping down your throat ...
The propblem is, that I don't have any of your issues. The game runs absolutly smooth and I have absolutly no slowdows yet. But I play only in Solo mode and this may make a difference. Please try that too on your ONE to see if it makes an difference.
