XBox Questions

As mentioned before I am a bit of an XBox virgin.Only found out last night I can get to google on XBox

Have a couple of questions

How do I get on to ED open play-- do I need Gold subscription? If so why is it that I can play Elder Scrolls Online( disgrace to ES franchise) and Witcher without Gold?

What is the (other) benefits with Gold? or:- Why pay £30 per year to play my own game on my own network?

Do I need to have Open Play to play Horizons or can you play it Solo

I have seen videos of voice commands-- is this possible with XBox?

Thanks

1. You need Gold to play in Open

2. No other benefits than multiplayer and occassional free games with Gold

3. You can play Horizons in Solo mode

4. No voice commands in ED on Xbox, voice commands is a third party program used on PC which binds key strokes to voice commands.

Afaik, you DO need Xbox Live Gold for Elder Scrolls Online (I checked the FAQ to make sure I'm not mixing things up). The Witcher is Single Player Only, so there is no need for Xbox Live Gold.

Honestly, after 6 happy years with Xbox Live Gold I will not start a discussion (again) about why or why not this fee may or may not be justified. If you don't like it, don't purchase it.

The other questions have already been answered. I only add one thing to them.

2. No other benefits than multiplayer and occassional free games with Gold
In addition, more offers on reduced games/dlc than without Gold. 'Occassional' means 4 games a month.

Yeah, definitely need Gold for open. It's a bit steep, and I pay it three months at a time but getting two free games a month (sometimes four, if the 360 ones are backward compatible) make it worth it.

And you don't need open to play Horizons.

All Xbox 360 recent and future games with gold titles are backwards compatible.

When can I start playing my November Xbox 360 Games with Gold on my Xbox One?

Once Xbox One backward compatibility rolls out on November 12, all future Xbox 360 Games with Gold titles will be playable on your Xbox One. This includes the November titles Dirt 3 and Dungeon Siege 3.

Xbl is completely worth €50 a year. I get everything on my Xbox. Sky tv, Netflix, YouTube and of course, access to Xbox live.

Much better service than any other console out there. Always has been. Having an Xbox offline for me is the same as having a powerful PC not connected to the Internet.

Absolutely worth it. Four free games a month. Not every one is a classic but every couple of months there's something I probably would have paid for.

Couldn't agree more. I've had it for 11 years now, and they keep making it better. Plus they are pretty quick with any server problems. Used to play CoD on both 360 and PS3 back in the day. Every other game was crashed out on the PS3, but the 360 matches were flawless for me.

I've been paying for it for 10 years now, so I don't even think about it at this point. GWG is a nice program, and you also get a little extra on the Xbox Live Rewards rebates. If you buy mostly digital (which I do), it can add up.

I'd recommend buying XBL Gold codes from places such as CDKeys.com, as it can work out much cheaper than buying direct from MS via the console.

E.g. 12 months for £31.99 (plus 5% off that if you "Like" the FB page) versus RRP of £40. Sometimes it's even cheaper - I've got it for under £30 more than once, and you can stack it.
