Xbox Series X Controller Not Found ?

Hi
I have started playing Space legs today for the first time, I'm left handed and use the mouse in my left hand and have real issues trying to use M+K
Playing Regular ED I use my X56 and VR and in the past have used an Xbox360 pad for SRV driving too.
I got a Series X recently and decided to use the controller on the PC for Odyssey as it will be easier.
My PC is Win10 and recognises the pad and is ok with it but it does not show up in ED at all, Horizons or Legs
Xbox pad is connected via USB C lead .
I don't have the xbox360 pad i used to use to test with it.
any ideas??

Does "default context" not work? I found that worked with my wireless X-box controller connected via usb cable. (Needs the Windows10 X-Box wireless adapter otherwise for Elite to see it, although other games don't.)

BTW - Obviously I am not talking about a Series X controller.

don't panic indeed
ya I would have thought that would work may have to change the device id in the bind file
were it may say "gamepad" it may need to say series x or whatever its called in bindings once an input has been rebound

@Charlie Hustle just changed the device id on his old xbox controller bind file and it worked so it is do able
though not sure if he was using a dongle to connect the device initially etc
I would say pm him for tips but hes been inactive here since june last year
