xBox X Ostracised and Legacy

Frontier Developments are already way ahead of the game splitting the niche audience by introducing a very basic legacy product while asking those that wish to become part of the chosen to stump up £1.5 k. I can already see ahead that the chosen ones b4 long will be asked to pay a privileged subscription for extra exclusive content.

Just to be clear Fdev have now tarred all console peasants and master race outcasts as ostracised and legacy.

Here is me thinking that a PS5 and Xbox X was very much cutting edge idk maybe should go back to the good old BBC having experienced way less less bugs

Still do wonder if I will get a response from MS agreeing with Frontier that Xbox X console is legacy.

or an Atari 2600 with an extra set of ram soldered onto the base ram chips.....
eventually all buy real computers once they were built 40 years later.

and as many have pointed out, EDO can be played ok on a $600 pc.

I was playing EDO on my XBox X last night quite successfully, for zero cost (outside of paying for EDO during a steam sale).
GFN have a free tier membership that allows me to play in 1 hour chunks (or if I want to go all premium pay around £9 for a month to get longer play sessions).

What's my point in describing this option? To be honest I don't really know, but I suppose that there is a low/zero cost option to continue to play ED in whatever fashion I want on the gaming system I choose.

Consoles aren't good for long-term live service games. System requirements change. FF14, for example, dropped PS3 support in 2017.

FDev hasn't considered to further support consoles by porting it to PS5 and XSS/XSX. Their decision.

Be at least glad that this kind of EOL didn't mean the inability to continue playing the game in the last supported state.

indeed Fdevs choice to further spilt an already niche audience and as said before all console peasants and older master race rigs have been tarred with the same brush deemed legacy .

The only reason as to why it’s not EoL albeit in name would be the loss of a profitable revenue steam.

Minecraft is a poor example considering it’s PS4 and Xbone versions are running increasingly poorly and are now bested by the mobile versions at this point.

Those are constrained to their engine and thus limited in their functionality and graphical representation and eventually get old as well.

It's quite likely MS will drop support for Minecraft on X1/PS4 eventually and also quite likely for Wargaming to drop support for WoT on X1/PS4 as well.

However, FDev and Squaresoft both didn't want to be limited by old hardware anymore. That is why FDev dropped PS4/X1 support for Odyssey, because it wasn't feasible. That is also why Squaresoft dropped PS3 support for Final Fantasy 14.

If you wish to keep your game afresh and wish to refine/renew the graphics, you will have to drop legacy systems.

It's quite possible FDev didn't saw the RoI on a PS5/XSS|X version, especially so what transpired at times the consoles were released at and the unavailability of these consoles as a result of that.

Geforce now gives you a RTX 2070 GPU in the cloud for free to run a steam and epic streaming version in the Xbox web browser for 1 hour...

but for god sake do all the signing up and account creation on some one elses 12 year old lap top with chrome...
As if your a whiner you wont be able to with stand the "new I am not a robot bot protection systems" that being installed on most servers...

You can then pay to rent a RTX 2080 in the cloud for a monthly fee... which was just last week greatly reduced...

Xbox users get to use the Edge web browser on Xbox to do this..
PS4 and PS5 cant run it as there web kit web browsers is still abandon ware from day zero of release...
The biggest issue geforce now elite users face is that the choice of games is able to stop them playing Elite as it advertises many other games which they might want to play with the power of a RTX 2080 GPU...

(Compliance of your K&M with Xbox comes first then geforce now...)

check you dont have a better device like android TV. LG TV. Shield TV as they are higher up the support tier..

Lol MS will only drop Minecraft upon the Xbox being given an EoL . Fdev dropped PS4/X1 due to inept programming while stringing along console players while inflicting on the master race an utterly broken bug ridden game. In fact FDev make EA games look like Snow White and never ever thought it would be the hill they chose to die on

As for FDev didn’t see the power of new consoles I call Why we are all tarred with the same brush and deemed legacy for one reason extort as much money as possible while maximising revenue to reinvest in EDO.

You honestly think that FDevs arrogance won’t come back to bite ? Let’s see where we are in a year once Bethesda StarField comes out which will wipe the floor. Might be better to focus to keep focus on dinosaurs and F1 providing they mange to keep the licences

I think that Starfield can become a big competition not only for ED but also for Star Citizen, if Starfield turns out to be as good as they advertise it that is.
If Starfield becomes a succes then I predict a big hit in decreasing player numbers for both.
I'm definitely hyped for Starfield, especially after Frontier threw us console players out the window.
I realy have no words for what Frontier did, they've lost a loyal customer here, there's no way I'll ever buy one of their games again.

Starfield wont wipe nothing, this time next year you might be playing it after the 2x delays it will have. It will be another cyberpunk, NMS on release. 2024 it might be worth touching after 10 patches

Yes, I started with GFN last week and am surprised at the graphic quality and control responsiveness. The only downsides imo are that you can't use a hotas (at least without some 3rd party workaround) and for those who have data caps on their internet it would be a drain. Luckily most of what I do in EDO can be done on a controller and I have unlimited data with my internet provider. Works well for me, but won't for everyone.

No Hotas, I use a controller with a chatpad, so I still get keyboard shortcuts and most everything else by control. I don't use a mouse at all.

"Just" controllers? Controller > HOTAS, LOL, at least IMO (though I suppose the HOTAS is more immersive, hence why I still use a flight stick with MSFS despite using a controller for everything else).

yeah. in Elite a HOTAS is just feels right to me. i was a pretty crap pilot. with the HOTAS i'm a less crap pilot and it feels like i'm really flying a space ship.
