Xeno Limpet Controller

This thing is useless.

It has a C3 Decontam limpet controller, a C1 Repair Limpet Controller, and 4 Research limpets.

Unfortunately, the research limpets take 2.5x longer to work than the standard research limpet controller, so in practice it's actually worse than the normal version there, too.

Virtually nobody uses it. I'd like to propose an alternative that would actually be good.

Proposal: 5B Xeno Limpet Controller. This would supplement the existing xeno controller, not replace it.

5B Xeno limpet controller
2 limpets max
5B Repair Limpets
3B Decontamination Limpets
1B Collector Limpets

Why this? Because one of the big reasons a lot of people hate doing space AXCZs is that there's no re-arm available, and stopping to scoop up weapon parts or propulsion elements takes too long and is too annoying.

This would fix this problem. You have full repair capacity, AND the ability to decontaminate if you run out of caustic sinks, AND the ability to grab weapon parts and propulsion elements as you play. This makes human AX weapons far more appealing, since you can synth them as needed.

This would actually be useful! As opposed to the current version, which is not. If you want people to do space AXCZs, this would help achieve that goal.

Thanks.

I always assumed the size 3 xeno MLC is bugged.
It should have the equivalent of size 1 decon, size 1 repair and the bog standard size 1 research limpet
But instead has the equivalent of size 3 decon, which not only decons, but also repairs better than the size 1 repair limpet - which makes the repair limpet not redundant, but plain useless

I havent used the research limpet from the MLC, but if indeed is slower than the standard 1E research limpet, something is really wrong with that MLC (maybe they used an older code for it, or maybe they did it on purpose)

Have you tested the research limpet from the 7C/7A ULC?

I think the problem they ran into is, the C1 Decontam limpet decontaminates so slowly it's effectively useless. It takes multiple limpets to remove a missile's worth of caustic damage. So they made it C3, and...yeah, ran into the problems you mentioned.

But as for the research aspect, yeah, both the xeno controller and the universal have been tested(I tested the xeno controller but not the universal), and they extract samples like 2.5x slower than the C1 research limpet controller. Which does make a degree of sense(otherwise the C1 would just be flat-out useless), but does have the unfortunate side effect of making the existing Xeno controller completely redundant.

Hence this suggestion! Make a usable xeno controller, make space AXCZs more appealing, win/win?
