Yangtze giant softshell turtle

The last known female of the entire Yangtze giant softshell tortoise (Rafetus swinhoei) species, hopefully there are more to avoid its ultimate extinction, has died. It is the largest species of freshwater turtle in the world.

As a posthumous tribute, it would be interesting to introduce this species into the game

Really sad decline of this and many other freshwater turtles. I get the sentiment behind a posthumous tribute, even if it’s not something I want personally. But I can fully agree that some large endangered freshwater turtles would be a huge boon to the game.

My preferred species would be the Indian giant narrow-headed softshell turtle. It’s so bizarre and unique-looking, often mixed with gharials and adding to our tropical Asian wetland set, and an endangered representative of one of the world’s most turtle-rich but threatened regions.

But there are so many similar good picks. Arrau river turtle, yellow-spotted Amazon river turtle, Nile softshell, painted river terrapin, pig-nosed.

I agree with you

This game, and hopefully there would be a sequel to it, should also serve to visualize for the whole world those animals that are in serious danger and that are practically unknown to the vast majority of the population

The message of the game is the educational work that we all have to do to take care of our great planet and all the forms of life that we are lucky enough to live on it.
