Yaw into roll at the press of a button.

About to post my setup. For the switches I just set it up in target so that both the up and down switches send a pulse for the toggle. This isn't ideal but so long as I make sure the switch is in the down position before I start the game (I usually log out in a station) then I just have to flick it up for gear up and back down to lower again. Same goes for the scoop but I start the game with the switch up and then can flick it down in the game to lower the scoop.

Would actually be nice if FD could add separate gear up and gear down commands to map to the switches though. There's probably a way to do this in TARGET but I'm not a pro used by any stretch.

It would be simple for them to just add another toggle yes/no setting to the gear and scoop in a similar fashion to the toggle or not toggle choice on the reverse throttle mode and flight assist. That way the switches on the Warthog would work.

Here is my setup.
A couple of things to note.
1. I use track IR (and have ordered a rift DK2) and so access the UI panels by looking at them then navigate using the HOTAS. I don't need the panel switch controls.
2. Some bindings (like secondary fire) might seem a bit weird when the stick has a dedicated weapons release button. But this setup just fits my hand better. I have tweaked this setup a fair bit and it's absolutely perfect for me at the moment. Hope you find it useful.

You can, so I have landing gear on the RDR switch (labelled NRM DIS) on the throttle box. TARGET has two settings, one for for it when it's UP, RDRNORM, ("NRM" on the box) and one for when its down RDRDIS ("DIS" on the box).

Set both to pulse when switched, and use that key in the bindings. So, use (say) "c" for cargo, set RDRNORM to send a pulse "c" (lower gear) and leave the switch up. Now get RDRDIS to send a pulse "c", retracts gear.

It will fall out of sync if you crash to desktop, just resolve it via the menu.

Thanks I will use some bits of that along with a few other ideas I have. I will have to get to grips with Target first. If you install Target does the Warthog still get recognised as a Warthog in ED as I suspect it may get a different ID. Can you still opt to run without Target even though it's installed or are you stuck with it once its installed.

Exactly. would work great with the switches bit it's a very specific request as I doubt anyone would actually want to hold a button to keep their gear down. lol

TARGET makes a new virtual joystick, so you would have the dubious pleasure of remapping it all. I'd hang back until we see the next release of beta before messing, partially because it may clear your setup, partially because different/more support may pop up.

You can install TARGET, you don't have to use it. But, once you've bound a game using TARGET unless you are allowed a new profile for the warthog direct and rebind from there you'll have to rebind every time you switch between TARGET and the vanilla Warthog. I did for the previous alphas, but now am happy (ish) using direct binding in the ED menus.

Hope that makes sense.

Yep that's exactly how I have it set up. Just need to remember to leave the switch in the right position when you start the game. Would be nice if you didn't have to remember too though eh :)

Nope if you use TARGET you will bind your controls to keyboard inputs (except the analogue axis) It took me about an hour to set it all up. But it was well worth it. TARGET looks complex but in the UI mode is actually very simple and well designed. Messing with scripts and stuff is another level though I'm not going anywhere near there.

You can definitely run without TARGET even if its installed. In-fact if you want to use target you have to run the script every time you want to play. It doesn't just change the way Elite sees your controller it changes the way all of windows sees it. Combining the Throttle and Stick into a single virtual device.

Yes it makes a lot of sense. I suspected it would appear as a different joystick. Might wait for the next beta, but not sure how far off that is. I hoped to use the Warthog in the Alpha's but with the initial single controller issue I dragged out an old X52PRO and got used to that. But as the feel of the Warthog is so nice it's come back out of retirement from it's flight sim days and I now have to get used to Target. Bit different to Foxy and the Cougar. I have CH gear as well but the Warthog is in the lead so far in ED for versatility and feel.

Crudzilla,

I feel you should really put your setup and the info you gave in this thread in a separate dedicated thread about the Thrustmaster Warthog too.

I feel the info is important for others to read and it would be to obscure and too difficult to find in this thread.

Hi there,

Yes, I bought one a few years back when they 1st came out. Its what I'm using for ED at the moment.
Its Ok, but no comparison to a dedicated quality HOTAS set up available to 'North Paws" !
The buttons on the base are pretty naff and the throttle slide isn't up to much.

Also have a Saitek Cyborg EVO Force - which doesnt seem to like ED or Win 64 drivers
