Yaw into roll setup adjustment

I use this all the time - just have the pinky switch on my Fighterstick as press-to-hold to compensate for no twist axis - I don't understand what you are looking to achieve - "alternate control mode" - do you mean landing override?
Im using an xbox controller on xbox.
There are 3 flight modes:
Normal mode
Click left stck (or whatever you assign) to get into and out of Alternate mode
And Landing mode
When mining I use yaw into roll on so I can use the other stick for vert and horizontal thrust to position so I am in a good spot so my limpets dont blow up on the rotating rock.
Also handy when making lots of jumps.
When attacked I need to switch to alternate control setup and then need the other stick controlling roll while still being able to yaw with the left stck as it much more accurate. Also to avoid missiles need to flip back to normal to vector sideways/up/down and various cominations quickly. Yaw into roll is clunky at best for lining things up in combat. Ok for lining up asteroids.
Unfortunatly if you turn yaw into roll on it is on in both modes and makes it impossible to control the speed of the roll. It seems to just go full speed when it engages. Also the yaw part is annoying too as it seems to start into roll before hitting full yaw speed.
A hotkey to turn it on and off would be ok too. But kinda running out of convenient button combos.
