Yaw/Roll modes? Subpanel bindings in alpha?

Hi, I recently picked up the Premium Beta to get started in elite, and I had a few controls questions. Namely, what exactly is the functionality of the "Yaw Into Roll" modes in the control configs? There are two settings for this, "On Initial Roll" and "On Low Roll" and I can't for the life of me figure out what they do.

I have an X-65F joystick, which I love, but its twist axis kind of sucks and I get a lot of bleedover between the Z and X axes. I have pedals to compensate for this, but Elite won't let me map them. (Booooo.) I'm having a heck of a time making minor horizontal adjustments to hit targets, since I'm basically having to roll 90o to make minor 2-3o corrections in aim. I was hoping that these options were analogous to the old Starlancer controls (where yaw and roll were mapped to the same axis but offset with a larger deadzone on roll) but that doesn't seem to be it.

Also, question for the people in the alpha, is it possible to map weapon groups and panel submenus to buttons? (Like, go directly to the targets subsystems list, rather than having to activate the right panel and then scroll over.) I have TrackIR and some MFDs, so I'd like to just be able to control those things directly, but there aren't any mappings in Alpha 1.

Thanks.

I have also just purchased Premium-Beta, and a Thrustmaster T-flight Hotas X.

Thankfully there is a pre-programmed mapping in the controls section of Elite. However I rarely can get the game to 'look' at my panels on the right and left, and when I finally get this working, I am still unable to control these panels or make any changes.

I am presuming that us Premium-Beta's are using some early Alpha build??? But any advice (even if it's 'wait for beta, things wont work for you at the moment') would be very welcome.

If there is a guide to setting up your controls out there a link would be muchly appreciated.

First of all you have a problem using multiple controller devices (HOTAS and pedals) because their support was implemented in Alpha 3 only.

Secondly TrackIR focusing on UI panels was introduced in Alpha 2.

As for yaw on roll controls the difference is probably in the conditions when to activate role. As I do not it as I am using X55 Rhino with rudder pedals.

Try the "Yaw into Roll" with "On Low Roll" setting. This should make the first part of any lateral movement on the stick a yaw with larger movements producing a roll. It works well for me on a non x360 game controller, which the game treats as a joystick. So I think it should work OK for your joystick.
