YAY - CG Rewards Finally

So we finally get our engineered FSD's but guess what, they have a bug, what a surprise.

Experimental effects are not applying so no stripped down yet I guess.

The reason for the delay is that the uniquely double-engineered Frame Shift Drives currently have an issue preventing them from being modified with experimental effects.

So you can enjoy these modules in the meantime, they will be given out later this week with an in-game inbox message to notify you. They will not be modifiable during this time while we work on a fix to come in a future update.
They mentioned it in a thread last week, second paragraph.

I applied experimentals to my double-engineered FSDs from Alcor earlier today. It works as normal even if FDev thinks it doesn't, no relog or any workaround needed.

As they are, I've gained about 3 light years as a minimum jump to all my ships they'll go into. Looking forward to further improvements should modifications become available but I'm happy with how they are. Thank you FD for offering them as rewards!

Edit: I just want to add, I've achieved a little over 7 LY extra to some ships with a loadout simply for Hyperspace jumps and that can make all the difference with longer journeys to fuel and time. For example what once maybe took 10 jumps now takes 3 - 5 (short I know but you get the point).

Apparently top 75% was enough to gain all 3 FSD drives (?) I transferred one of mine to my local station but they are stored at Alcor, or somewhere far away if you were in Colonia taking part there. 5 tonnes sounds like not enough to be a winner. I did 30,000 tonnes without a fleet carrier. Not boasting, just saying.

ETA Go to Outfitting, then Stored Modules. If it isn't there you probably didn't qualify.

Yeah. 5t gets you nothing I'm afraid.
Next phase will be coming up soon, so get your hauling ship ready...

Go into Outfitting at any station and check your list of Stored Modules. If you won a FSD it'll be in that list. You can then transfer it to your current station, however 5T won't have been anywhere near enough to qualify, but maybe you got some money.

You needed to deliver A LOT to get near the top percentages. 30,000T above and I delivered about 23,000T myself without a Fleet Carrier. You need to buy a ship that's as light as possible, that can jump as far as possible and carry as much cargo as possible for the money you can afford. I used a Type 9 Heavy ship which can carry about 776T of cargo but it's expensive and if you want to use ship modifications and Engineers, it takes a long time to gather resources and money to modify and buy things, however, if you begin now you should be in a better position to deliver more cargo for the next round.

20,000T is a safe minimum target for better awards but you need to deliver cargo every day to avoid giving yourself a headache. 30,000T is better.

Such amount is necessary only if you want to get into Top-10%. If you just want modules, these are normally awarded for Top-75% and above. 5000 tons is usually more than enough to put you into that range.

True with modules only. If you want greater cash rewards go higher.

Anyway I don't often take part in Community Goals as I don't often have time. It wasn't really made too clear from the notes I read that to qualify for modules you only needed to be in the top 75% and after finding this out and realizing I'd never reach the top 10, I throttled back and settled for a modest 23K contribution.

Sadly, most CGs pay scraps. You usually earn much more from trading or combat you do for that CG.
Of course, now and then there are CGs that pay ridiculous amount of money (like Hudson vs Winters CG just before Odyssey release - got 5 billion from these two combined)

Very impressive!

By the way, I must admit I hadn't read the notes regarding how modules were going to be awarded and had assumed to get the best FSD you'd need to collect a huge amount and not just get into the top 75%. I realised this late in the day but, where would we have seen that info, that the top 75% would be enough?

The standard description in the Bulk block of text in game on the CG sign up, on sites like inara and this official CG forums 2 topics one for each CG..

Should deliveries reach sufficient levels, the top 75% of contributors will be awarded an engineered frame shift drive with increased range and faster boot sequence. These will be placed in storage at Macdonald Settlement. Example for alcor side..

example for colonia side..

Mega! Thank you. I'll check these out next time now that I'm up to speed. Much appreciated!
