Yeah! Were finally getting ship pilots! (but when?)

with 1.3 i think...

but i don't get the hype around it.
IF someone gets close enough to me to look into my canopy, he might see an unanimated puppet in the seat that looks like anyone else.
It's a nice addition... but i don't really understand how this is the most anticipated update of the game.

I don't think anyone would consider it the "most anticipated update of the game" by a long shot.

It doesn't really matter that it's just an unanimated and generic character model, nobody will notice.

What people DID notice though was that empty seat, and that looked awkward.

I think it's an improvement, however insignificant.

And here i thought we were finally getting an ingame dash/menu color editor... I honestly could care less about a miniscule model that ill only see if i get reallly reallllllly close.

.

Whilst I suspect you are right, they haven't actually said it's an unanimated puppet have they?
They could have done that from the start as part of the ship model. on the other hand, animating it would be a lot of work for something most people would never see.....

We'll have to wait and see....

I appreciate the addition of the pilot models. But while I understand it's not a priority, objectively speaking, and some will of course dismiss it as an appalling waste of FD's time, I would very much like to see a full avatar creator (yes, including clothes and makeup options!).

Yes, I know it's a space sim. Yes, I know We Are Our Ships. That there are far more important things on the list. Yes, I saw all the ferociously negative reactions that killed ambulation in EVE Online. And even so, I still think that I won't feel properly connected to a game until I can create a character to play in it.

It may be a space sim, but it's also a multiplayer game that intends to let us get out of the cockpit and walk around, presumably meeting other players, a character creator is a must, if everyone looks like the same spacesuit walking about it really will look like a game from the 80s

Not asking for much, but please add some hand gestures. Specifically the one that allows you to raise your middle finger up vertically allowing you to great other pilots that insist on interdictions in a professional manner.

To be corporeal... hmm... must involve a lot of touchy-feely stuff...

Be that as it may. Then we need hats!
