Yes; another post about the Python

If you look at its specs, the Python is like, a “mini” Corvette. My all-time favorite multi-role ship, on Elite.

So, the Gunship can have a fighter. Why can’t the Python have a fighter, on one of the 6 size compartments too?
Another thing odd is that; it has two seats on the cockpit. Why can’t I contract a NPC to pilot the ship, on the 2nd seat?

Because the Python isn't a military ship, it's civilian

It doesn't have a fighter bay door, so no fighters sorry. And maybe eventually we will get some seat fillers, but with multi-crew coming if you have friends you could possibly see them scratching their butt next to you soon.

You see all that loose wiring in the Anaconda? Something to do with that. Can't have any of the above without having that professional cable-work done first.

It should do, considering what it's capable of doing. A lot of people prefer to think its ability to land on all sizes of pad should outweigh anything else, however.

Because of this and its nerfed agility, it will never be allowed to truly excel at any other role than armed transport.

The other cockpit seats will be utilised once the coming crew feature is implemented. According to Frontier, however, that won't be a possibility which is available for NPCs, so don't expect to experience it unless you know someone with a copy of the game in the same time-zone.

Because frontier are not consistent with their outfitting choices. This is a constant source of confusion and bemusement for all. Including at times the very developer making said inconsisten decisions.

End of conversation.

The Python is basically a big Cobra. It tends to be somewhat more combat leaning but is definitely still multi-role.

I don't care at all about SLFs, but with the Python only having 4 utility mounts and the 5+ shield booster nerf not making it into the game, I think it would be fair if the Python had a military module added. I'm not sweating it tough.

Somebody is gonna use the word 'Keelback' soon.

Type-9.

Let's be honest with this and put the lore-excuses aside: It's arbitrary. Some ships have fighter bays and some don't, because the Devs decided so.

Probably because the Python is already a very capable ship in its size-bracket. Same reason why it as well as the FdL didn't get military compartments.

Mostly that, and also I assume they want to encourage you to keep playing/earning the next big ship to put it in/keep playing longer. Which is pretty much the answer to any 'Why can't we have <game item> in/at/when...'

The irony being that people would have more reason to be in the game if they could find their ideal personal 'niche ship' for whatever it is they prefer to do. Constant grinding is a chore and more likely to make people want to play something else.

Myself, I think I've got that with the FAS, which I'm presently A-rating. Can hopefully start to have some actual fun doing combat and escort after that's done. :) Then I'll only need to keep Python-trading in my spare time, until being able to replace it with an Anaconda.

FdL has 6 utility mounts though, so like I was saying with the 5+ shield booster nerf not making it in... It isn't a huge deal, but it does seem a bit off to me for what would make sense balance-wise and what was seemingly intended by the military module slots in the first place.
