Yes guys, we exceeded fifty thousand backers

When I pre ordered Windows 7, several months before its release, the money had not been debited from my account. But it is Microsoft, rich in billions ...

If you have premium beta bought at the shop, and you can download launcher, then FD has taken payment from you.

Preorder very frequently means you pay in advance. In this case FD charges you at preordering fact.

I never realized that. I thought preorder was just a sort of reserve me one type thing. You cancel at any time and no real harm.

I dont preorder that often.

I think my PS4 I preordered I didnt pay until shipment, but yeah I just checked my bank and they must have took payment pretty much the same day back in Jan.

So yeah, I guess as soon as you press the buy now button you become a backer.

And normally you can not cancel and be refunded, except for a good reason

But normally when you preorder something you dont pay (become an actual customer) until you get what you bought.

I have no clue how this works, like I say I never noticed if frontier has took payment from me yet. I'm not sure if they dont until tomorrow or what or it snuck out when I didnt notice.

The difference is your not preordering, your pledging money to the development of the game. In exchange for your pledge your given access to a pre-release build depending on your level of pledge as well as a copy of the game once it's released. It may be a subtitle difference but if you keep in mind that you are investing in the development of the game rather than buying a product the 'pay before we deliver' makes sense.

"Participate in the first round private beta test".

Can someone tell me what that entails? Will I be able to play today?

How much did you pay?

Did it say 'premium beta' and charge you 100 pounds or 150$?

If so, you play sometime today, (or tomorrow if you're a Yank like me.)

If not.... wait for it..... Soon.

Currently you can still download the Alpha 1 combat scenarios which were given to first beta's to practice on, but as Patrick says this is the day Prem Beta starts properly with a build like the Alpha's are currently playing
