Yet Another ExploraConda Build

After following the most excellent "Engineering Guide to Exploration" provided by HazardousMatt (hat tip), I'm nearly there with my ideal build for my "Aleppo" exploration and science vessel.

I'd love to hear what other explorers think of this build and if you have any suggestions. Fly safe!

Well, it's an exploratiion build, so... not sure what you expect. Explo build is always the same, the only changes are down to the CMDR's need for comfort or safety.

*shrug*

I sure hope you don't catch a cold while exploring CMDR...

...given that a well-placed sneeze will damage your ship ;)

Nice dirty drive roll ;)

( just insert 10, if you got an additional 10% roll, not the total 110% mulitplier)

Thanks! Yeah, I think I didn't type in my stats properly on the coriolis page, confused me a bit there :)

Yes...yes... :) I will be flying *very* carefully out there! Had an interesting near death encounter landing on Lei Chung's planet. So I'm not sure yet what to do about shields...

Don't get me wrong. You did all there's to be done to lighten the ship and increase its range; if you take 2 SRVs I assume you want to have a spare one just in case, etc. So... I don't see anything to comment on.

We're cool, man. The Baba Ghannoush is friends with everybody :D

Only thing I noticed is that your Power Plant is larger than it needs to be, if you're going for absolute minimum weight. You can easily power everything with a 3A since the AFMU should not be powered on all the time anyway.

Other than that, I see you're taking a 4D SRV hangar and a SLF hangar which says you're not going for absolute minimum weight.
Improving your Power Distributor so you can boost will only drop your jump range by 0.44y https://eddp.co/u/UuflbbUv

With this Engineered build https://eddp.co/u/QHaR4Lm8 you're only down 0.5Ly and you can boost.

P.S. Oh yeah, I would throw a Heat Sink Launcher on also, just in case. https://eddp.co/u/mEViAbok

I like that idea. I might give that a go this evening and get the 3A modified to a Grade 1 Overcharged Plant...

You could overcharge it but there's no need. You have plenty of power with a 3A. You can even go Low Emissions since you have room to lose some power on the 3A.
The AFM and the PVH never need to be powered on at the same time thrusters are powered on.
Setting the PVH to a higher power priority will automatically turn it on as you land and the thrusters shut down.

This is my build BTW... https://eddp.co/u/lv4GLVE3

I would overcharge a 2A Powerplant with a grade 1 upgrade; grade 5 lightweight sensors; fill empty slots with AFMU's to repair the other AFMU(s) and to absorb heat damage and last but not least bring one cargo rack just in case you need to pickup any Thargoids, maybe even a corrosive rack :)

Something like this

Sweet build, btw. Just installed a 3A power plant and you were right, more than enough after I turned off the AFMU and PVH modules. A bit of clever power management with priorities and it turned out to be a good fit, plus the maximum range went up to 55.77LY [big grin]

I tried putting in a 2A, but I'm a bit chicken. That is one ballsy setup you have there. Will experiment a bit with it and see what it gets me...

Nice build. But I would be careful with the 1D Power Distributor. I had a bad experience in which my ship was not able to lift off a planet after I dismissed it. Just test everything before you go on the big journey.

Fly/land safe.

I'd agree being able to boost CAN save you. Experience/no experience...everyone makes mistakes.

Only thing I would add, and I see this all the time...why not bring a cargo rack? Granted we rarely, if EVER, find anything we want to bring back or haul around. That being said, it weighs nothing and you have the slots for it. What if you find a downed ship with escape pods or you find some alien relics you want to bring back? I almost always being a 1F corrosive and 1 regular cargo rack. So far I've never "needed" them but I've often been glad I had them.

Safe travels :)
