Yet another mission impossible (mission objective icon never spawned)

Even after Update 6, some sabotage missions are impossible to complete because the Container unit (the only one in the settlement actually) is not marked as mission objective - there are no mission objective icons anywhere in the whole base.
Even if I put the mission provided prohibited item in the Container unit the game never acknowledges it.
I had to abandon the mission in the end which led to yet another fine.
Good times.

I checked the issue tracker for something like this and I found a bunch of expired issues for sabotage missions.
So I created a new one.

I just did few and they worked for me, first you have to check Terminal to see where is the correct Container and don't forget to activate the Panel after you put object inside. If it is not marked as objective it should work anyways. I'm doing a lot of on foot missions right now so I will double check again. I will let you know later today.

I'm causing havoc in Kumo Crew systems because they are big cry babes, I did around 30-40 on foot missions last night and I remember doing 2 or 3 sabotage missions. I will make sure to check it out, I will let you know later on and if your right I will reproduce your issue.

I figure it out. Problem is you maybe have more then 1 type of that container you have to use, probably left over from previously failed sabotage missions.

at your ship or SRV whatever you use go to manage inventory, if you pick the blue one that supposed to work, it won't. what you have to do is pick all of them to your backpack and then go to your backpack and discard all but the one that will be highlighted in blue. I think it is a bug when your ship and/or your SRV is picking wrong item or maybe if you have more of these items on your ship or SRV inventory it won't work. I'm not sure if I make any sense but.. let me know if you still have problems.

I appreciate your effort but this is not the case. I recently cleared my inventory at the barman and I am 100% sure I only had the mission provided item in my backpack/storage (and it was blue when I was inserting it into the container unit).


I should have taken screenshots. I’ll try a few other sabotage missions in the same location and see if it repeats.

After you leave your ship or SRV just check your backpack and see what is in it because first time I disembark my SRV I received a message "mission objective item missing from your backpack". There is a bug for sure but there is a way to avoid it, I did already 3 more sabotage mission just to confirm it can be completed. Works for me but I will add my vote to your issue report.

OK, even after 6 updates missions are definitely bugged. I just had a very similar issue again, this time with a power restore mission.

I took a power restore mission and I was provided with a Power Regulator. So far so good.
I flew to the settlement, engaged the Power Regulator and the next task was to put out fires in all rooms.

The problem is that the progress bar for the fires (and the whole objective) disappeared during the whole process. See screenshot where there is absolutely nothing in the upper right corner:

You can see the mission description in the screenshot and that I have 0/1 PR (because I already put it in the power core).

So I was without an objective... I decided to jump into my ship and try again.
As soon as I jumped into my ship the objective appeared again but from the very first step - Engage power regulator. And of course I didn't have it on me since it was already engaged.

So I ran back to the PWR building and turned it off and on again... this reset the objective but there was another issue - it wanted me to put out the fires again which I already distinguished. So a dead end.

Last resort - I disengaged and took back the provided PR and boarded my ship (so I wouldn't lose the PR) and exited to the main menu. When I reloaded the game everything seemed back to normal - except this time some scavengers spawned.
Never mind them, I dodged them, engaged the PR, put out fires and legged it back to my ship.
