I wonder if there is a system by which if you lose too much reputation with a faction, they can decide to strip you off your current rank?

After all, if a british and commonwealth subject commit a crime, it can lose honour that have been bestowed to them. It is common for convicted celebrities to lose their OBE for example...
In the military, if you commit a crime, you can have your rank reduced by a martial court...

I am asking this because I am still stuck as a petty officer :|

It's quaint that the Feds still consider me a high ranking officer given how many loyal comrades I've destroyed. Perhaps it's a perk of rank. Really it is very stupid and hopefully they'll get around to making faction ranks, and indeed faction allegiance, actually mean something other than giving the right to fly a 'special' ship.
