You can make the building grid 1/4!

Tbh, I was being lazy and waited for somebody else to give this little trick but it seem nobody did.


  1. Start building your build
  2. Select the 1/4 sandstorm sand collum
  3. Hit crt and slide it off the square
  4. Now your grid will be 1/4 for as long as there is a piece in said grid.

If somebody mentioned it already my bad but it make it easier to build so I wanted to spread it~

Thank you! I will try this later. Not sure but the ctrl function has not worked for me on other items but I may be doing it wrong. I thought in the Alpha stream they had mentioned hitting ctrl to turn off path snapping and auto attach but this did not work for me but I will try with the scenery too. Have you tried this with any facilities shops?

I think if we had free grid when building a building in final release it would be awesome.

The piece is called sandstorm sand collum. Added a screenshot of it working.

I accidently did this when I tried out all items. Suddenly I got a 1/4 grid and didn't know how I did it or how I get back to normal. [uhh]
I guess this is a glitch, but I hope we will be able to switch between different grid sizes in the final game. [up]

Anyhow, thanks for sharing and enlighten us!

thanks for posting that. i did it by accident in one building, and just spent an hour trying to figure out how the heck i did it.

The piece is called "sandstone curved column".

You don't actually have to use a glitch to get this to work, here is a simple guide I've made that explains how to easily access 1/4 which is actually an option included in the editor HUD bottom right.
