You Can Still Kill Skimmers from Your Ship

They sould retreat to a "Bunker" when a ship (non NPC) are flying near (Like 1 KM) the compound.

I'ts actually easy to fix this: Add some structures that look like bunkers, and another like a radar.
When any ship are near to the compound ring the alarm "Warning: Bombarding emminent! All Ground defenses get cover at the bunker - Broadcasting distress signal in 1 minute" - So all the VS ground defenses go to the bunker and stay in there until the alarm turns off (Even if a SRV are in the ground).
When the distress signal timer reach the 1min, the base will call for ships to take down the bomber - this can take a short time too, so people will still have the chance to leave before the anti-bombardment team arrives.
 
I don't normally go in for shooting skimmers much... but I can say Gaurdian plasma chargers really messes up skimmers, and anything else on the ground - let's see them intercept those.

Bombing base would be actually fun. New module probably? To fit air to ground missels/bombs?

Honestly I would be all over a bomb sight and a dedicated bomb bay hardpoint for taking out ground (or near-ground) targets.

One thing I've never actually tested is whether the flak launcher is any good against skimmers compared to dumbfires.

edit: hell, specifically mark hardpoints as "upper" or "lower" and give them appropriate SRV-support. I already have point defence on my DBX specifically for shooting down skimmer missiles and otherwise acting as an Iron Dome style defence for my SRV, I'd love it if my ship's actual hardpoints could deploy turreted weapons while landed. Sure, it'd be a sitting duck against any ships that actually pose a threat to it, but it'd be great for protecting the buggy long enough to scramble into the hatch and dust off!

I try to be a good ED fanboi but what in the world is FDev thinking with skimmer missions in general?
Why wouldn’t I kill skimmers with a nice, big, powerful ship. Why would I stupidly jump in my weak shielded and weak weaponed, thin-skinned SRV to battle skimmers? Of course I want to use my ship.

Guess we’ll leave the guesswork as to the the legality of Planetary Scan Missions to another thread.

This is another area where ED's biggest weaknesses come out. You should be able to customize or mod the game or something to have bases and skimmers work the way you want them to, like with X3 or skyrim.

Like its ok if a studio abandons a big feature, like how they abandoned surface vehicles/content after making the "SRV," if the community can pick up the slack with mods.

Space ships should be blown outta the water. A mere space ship against planetary based weapons.
A few class 6 or class 8 rail guns on a moon should deter any of that nonsense.

Take out the power plant first. Here's how ya do it, even if you are terrible at skimmer missions (like me):
